I think you dont know how to ripen them. Alphonso and Kesar, can ripen themselves without any help. Just pluck them and put them on news paper and keep the newspaper on a table. After 7 to 8 days they will ripen themselves. For other varieties, buy some straw and insert the mangoes in straw which is filled in a jute bag(you will get these jute bags when you buy 100kg or 75kg rice). Just check the mangoes every three days so that they dont over ripen. Over-ripened mangoes can get rotten. Straw is the right material to ripen them, rather than any grass. If the number of mangoes is very small say 10-15, then you can insert them in plain rice and in around 6-7 days they will ripen. This method you can suggest to your friends, when you offer them raw mangoes and ask them to ripen, themselves. In this case too, you should not allow them to get over-ripened or rotten, else such a spoilt mango can spoil the entire quantum of rice also and both mango and rice will become useless. In any case, Just ensure the mangoes are not having any moisture content, not kept in AC environment nor come into contact with Water or water particles. This will make the mangoes rotten. As a small farmer in Thane region cultivating Alphonso and Kesar, thought of giving these inputs. Thanks.
