The 8th grade orchestra played this when I was in 7th grade orchestra in 2007 at our Christmas concert.. it is December 18, 2024 and I've been looking to find this song for the last 16 years and this is it. They played it much faster than this but thank you so much for posting this!

@@JudyHopps-s3tI would really find it entertaining to see you try to learn the violin part to this piece, to the whole suite even (6 movements btw, which is what we had to play for majors) in the time that we had to learn it. I do not believe you are qualified to make a comment on this matter. It is incredibly insulting to the people in this ensemble who put in the time and effort to perform at the hardest level in the nyssma mannual just for people like you to make uneducated insults. And coming from a musician, bias aside, they were together. Sure, there were some parts that were iffy. But overall, they were together as a unit. You're entitled to your opinion, I'm not diminishing your opinion whatsoever. I'm saying that, the best part about KZbin that if you don't like something or if you think it's bad, you have the ability to click off.

I’ve waited a year for this and it was worth it I remember sitting in the same room as u looked at this piece and said confidently I can do it. Now that I’m hearing it you have come a long way and I’m proud to say that this was amazing keep it up u have so much potential for someone who’s so young and has so much time to show the world who u are once again thank you

Terrible! Although your technique was, broadly speaking, decent, the performance was cold, soulless, and lacked the emotional depth required by this piece. I suggest you study the performance of Martha Argerich's or even Claudio Arrau's to get a real sense of the breadth of this composition. You are merely an amateur in a sea of superb interpretations. I applaud your attempt at this piece, but not your distortion of it. Go back to toying with beginner's pieces like the Beethoven Piano Sonatas or the Chopin Nocturnes. Those are more in line with talent like yours.

Rachmaninoff composed his "Prelude in C sharp minor" in 1892 when he was only 19 years old. He wrote this piece based on a nightmare he had and transcribed the melody he heard in his dream onto manuscript paper. The dream starts with mourners dressed in black surrounding a casket. Rachmaninoff is among the crowd of mourners. Rachmaninoff gets closer to the casket to view the deceased, who is discovered to actually be the Rachmaninoff himself! Rachmaninoff then realizes that he is a ghost, which he becomes light headed and filled with dread as he realizes this. He is then filled anger and denial of death while the ending, gradually fading to be “as quiet as possible”, is finally the acceptance of his death. The ending chords represent bells, which decrescendo as he passes away.
