Hey mate, that is a truly beautiful case. I love it so much. I'm also a big admirer of the Grandfather collection, I own the carry-on and it's beautiful. Same quality and design style as your case, can't wait to see what Dave comes up with next. Thanks for sharing mate

The un-even cut at the end of the belt is probably why yours was a Dave's Deal.

I really love your taste and style always so chic. My faves would be the kislux leather backpack and the Swarovski pave diamond ring so gorg. Thank you for your recommendations.

Putting towels in to make it full is a good concept, kind of like a shoe tree in a new pair of leather shoes.

I'm shopping for a new passport wallet for our travels, so this review worked out great for me. Thanks! Based on my last two SBL purchases, I think there might be some tweaking going on at Saddleback in the interest of cost-cutting.. possibly. The 100-year guarantee is still in place, so... 😀

BTW - Will you be doing year two of the SBC? It's been eleven weeks, and I'm still waiting for my year one SBC gear. The year two overnight bag looks pretty nice
@Reviews-For-You.Ай бұрын
Hi! Thanks for your kind words in your first comment. I don't think I will be reviewing the year 2 Club leather. I buy all the leather for my own needs, and I just enjoy reviewing it. But there is nothing in the year 2 bundle that I need. I think the duffel from year 1 was incredible, and the overnight bag from Year 2 isn't quite as impressive, in my opinion. The smaller dry bag is pretty cool, but that alone doesn't justify buying the entire thing, unfortunately. I may end up with a grandfather's overnight case soon though!

@@Reviews-For-You. - Well, I'm subscribed, and if you end up with that Overnight case, I'll be looking forward to your observation. My year one SBC is scheduled to arrive Monday. Looking forward to that duffle bag!! All the best!

I’m going to college this fall. Do you think this would be a good everyday backpack for carrying a laptop, iPad, chargers, potentially a folder/binder as well? I want something durable but also functional. And if this bag is too small, do you think the normal front backpack would work for me better?

I have to admit this is a strange construction. The crafter attempted to reduce thickness by only deploying pocket slot tops (which is normal.) But then they went and eliminated the benefit by inserting lining in each slot. *shrugs. Additionally they fully lined the billfold with more pigskin, generating more thickness. I like your new wallet much better.
@pepleatherlab38723 ай бұрын
Would be a Top Grain (surface has been shaved to promote uniformity of texture.) Full Grain would have visible bumps, bites, wrinkles and minor scarring. Full Grain is a little stronger, but the quality of Top Grain is still excellent. Lining wallets can be challenging. An artisan is constantly walking the line between cosmetic/ergonomic appeal and product bulk. If a crafter uses fabric to reduce thickness, it never lasts. When a craftsman uses leather lining, the product gets bulky. My preference as an artisan is to wax burnish the flesh side of the inner cover then leather line the reverse card battery. This delivers the quality of a lined product and keeps thickness at a minimal. Natural Veg Tan is always interesting as it reveals patina the fastest. Will likely turn a light amber over time then grow steadily brown. The cosmetics of the edges could be better, but for $100 I'd say you got a good wallet. Cheers! 🍺

Gorgeous! I have the Love 41 City Backpack in Tobacco. Fabulous leather! In regards to this backpack, I had always thought that the word thin only designated that the front pocket was thinner than the original. I didn't know that it meant that the entire backpack is a thinner profile.

How much does it weigh when it's empty? I like it, but I am concerned that it may be too heavy for a woman like myself.

I visited the Saturday market today and spoke with him. The dyes he uses on his leather is amazing. I wasn't originally going to buy anything, but came home with a mahogany and black rustler card holder. I may go back for a full size bifold.

Ohh, nice updated design. I have one of the large ones too but the older style. Hows the new wallet treating you? Cheers
@Reviews-For-You.4 ай бұрын
I think I prefer the older style, which is probably apparent by the way I talk about these designs in the video lol The new wallet is great - the outside is starting to patina and darken, and you can tell because the inside remains a brighter color. Looking forward to doing a review in a few months when its darkened even further. So far its holding up perfectly, structurally speaking, as well.

I’ve had mine for almost 10yrs now. It arrived really stiff but broke down over time after consistent use. As a military veteran it is by far the best backpack I’ve owned …keep in mind these bags have a LIFETIME GUARANTEE..so stiffness wears overtime. For me it was about 2-3yrs of consistent use ..

Dude I am so glad I found your video. I'm also an airline pilot and I have been looking for a bag that looks more classy and professional than the normal LW stuff you see everyone using. How are you liking this bag as your flight bag???
@Reviews-For-You.5 ай бұрын
I decided it would be too big for my purposes. As a commuter, I need something a little more compact and I figured out the SBL Flight Bag did everything I needed, so I am just going to stick with that one. Definitely check out the Flight Bag!
@ejripley5 ай бұрын
I looked at the size and it's basically the same size as my Contrail flight bag FL410P I'm not sure the pilot bag is big enough for all the stuff that I bring with me. I apprecaiate the feed back though! @@Reviews-For-You.
Really nice wallet! Just curious, do you think you’ll end up missing the extra pockets the SBL wallet had. Seems like only 2 pockets on each side would take some getting used to.
@Reviews-For-You.5 ай бұрын
I don’t think I’ll miss the extra pockets. All of my cards fit easily into the 4 pockets and bill area in this wallet. Since most cards I carry are not used too often, I think it will work out well.

How’s the old Bull belt holding up for you? Been wanting to buy one but was unsure.
@Reviews-For-You.5 ай бұрын
I actually just sold it. If you recall, I had a Dave's Deals version and the separating of the fibers on the back bothered me. But the primary reason for the sale was because I make my own belts now and want to wear those instead, so no use keeping my SBL belts. I would still definitely recommend the Old Bull belt though, it is the thickest piece of leather I have ever seen.
@metricdeep88564 күн бұрын
I have several. One I tried to return...they just sent a replacement. I bought a few more. If there are no issues when they arrive....you probably won't ever have any. I love mine. The leather is indestructible...the only issue I had was rivet placement and crooked alignment. It likely would be as good...just not a s pretty.

Thanks for your review mate. Still debating whether I should get the pilot’s or the barrister’s for my use. I’m using those chunky DCs headsets and the pilot’s might be slightly tiny haha
@Reviews-For-You.6 ай бұрын
The Barristers is much, much bigger. I fly out tomorrow so I will see how this goes, hanging off my Luggageworks roller. It would easily fit your DCs but for me its more a question of, how big is too big when its hanging off the back of the roller and has to sit under the seat in front of me while commuting? If it had this width with the 2-inch shorter size of the flight bag, I think that would be the sweet spot!
@benoitpetit63936 ай бұрын

curious how this closure works in the rain in keeping your stuff dry
@Reviews-For-You.6 ай бұрын
The closure on the flight bag works pretty well. Obviously if its sitting out for awhile in intense rain, water is going to get in. But for brief periods, it works just fine.

I am not super picky when it come to my leather goods. I don't go around looking at every stitch to make sure there aren't any out of place. I just figure the bag or wallet is going to get beat up anyways. But, that stamp showing through would be a deal breaker for me. I would send it back and have them replace it.
