Have watched Tommy lay this several times live at different venues. Each time he proves he has the greatest instrumental cover of this song . A close 2nd instrumental is Eva Cassidy and she sings this song and absolutely owns it. She is by far the best vocalist to perform this song

Saw Monte at Sam's. we were all outside waiting for them to open the seating area. It was about 30/40 minutes before they would let us in, but we got a special treat as we waited. Monte started warming up inside with this song, Midnight Tango!!! It was an incredible experience .... one might call it fore play! He didn't play the song during the show. He was just limbering up his fingers and voice!!! He will be at Sam's again on Sept. 6th, 2024 !!!!!!

Listened to this again today. Its a Masterpiece. Love to see and listen to master Johnny. It is specially touching to see how he loves the guitar-sound. But let us not forget his great guys on the stage, the bass-player and the eminent drummer.

Despite his guitar looking like its been used as a kitchen table his music is a breathe of fresh air. Some of this actually sounds like water flowing down a gentle waterfall....just beautiful.
