People are so confused when it comes to math equations. I don't know why people think you are supposed to multiply first. Are we saying that calculators are now wrong ? 9+9 X 9 is 162 on every calculator. This is the only time you would multiply first 9 + (9x9) = 90. Grammatically correct would have been to say "What is 9 Times 9 plus 9 ?" if he was looking for the answer to be 90.
