​@@seancoolmusicActually, ANY storage medium connected can be used to update OS - as long as OS files located in root directory! (e.g. HD, CD-R/RW, floppy, ZIP/ATAPI drive...) This info right in user manual. 😉

The Deepmind is analog with digital fx. You can have some more noise at some patches. It is easy to use and with wlan + app you can create in a good way new patches. Sounds solid and more for patches 80/90 early 2000 music in my eyes. The Hydra is complete digital, more complex, not easy to program, no app for it only to save and restore. It is a great tool to kill time but can be frustrated is there no good sound. If you find good patches you hear the complex structure and the possibilities. Honestly i would take the Hydra. The Deepmind is great but with VST you can find nearly similar sounding plugins like U-he Diva. The hydra is a kind if its own and has its unique functions, thats the reason why i have now 2 of them.

@@seancoolmusic Your Text actually made me get the opposite of what you recommended, got a deal of a new DM12desktop for 599€, since it really sounds like the Hydra is a complex kind of endgame. So i got the DM12d as a Trainer and will upgrade to the Hydrasynth in future (also the desktop version of the Hydrasynth is weirdly 200€ more expensive than the Keyboard version.. but i need my 61 Keys, so..) And ty again for the detailed explanation. Also, i really love the warm analog sound of the DM12. The HS is way more sparkly-glitter digital-sounding, but i think the DM12 will be a good learning preparation for a future upgrade.

Thank your for your feedback. Your choice is good and i don’t want to sell my Deepmind. It is a great synth and it was my first analog synth. So your price is good. And i agree with you, for better results at the beginning the DM is absolutely fine. Now you have the option to order the Hydra if you want. And both together Analog and Digital give great new Soundoption from both world. I like to play them together. So i hope you have fun with the DM and it is the best choice for you!

Hello, no, me too. I always had to install a floppy disk drive internally. Haven't found any other way. It seems that the protocol routine and programming is based on the use of a floppy disk drive all the time.

@@seancoolmusic however, Yamaha shows in their manuals that the ZIP drive can be installed instead of FDD. So perhaps there is a hope? Or maybe IDE drive "disable" those checks? IDK. Is your drive SCSI or IDE?

@artephank Yes you are right. The problem seems coming if you change it without a ide drive attached. My drive here is a SCSI and without ide it is a huge problem. My A4000 and A5000 use IDE ZIP without a fdd and there i have not such a problem. So far for the A3000 my solution is to put the fdd inside without a need.

@@seancoolmusic No, a real Knifonium. I think it is the best synthesizer ever made. The VST is ok, but really can't generate the harmonic density of the tube based Knifonium architecture. Yes. The Schmidt analog 8 voice. Is a very special synth as well.

@@seancoolmusic What interested me about your warning was the unusual resonance I experienced with the Knifonium. More than once it made sounds that were not audible, but made the tip not my nose and earlobes flutter wildly. I felt inside m y brain that if I continued it would it. Other times the resonance felt like a "massage" to my ears. Hearing the Hydrasynth warnings madevme wonder if it could emulate similar frequencies.

​@@saladdays180s9 Wow, I think you have really rare synthesizers. I searched for it in the inet and was surprised because I have never heard of Schmidt. But you also can't test these synths here in music stores 😅. The VST of Knifonium is great so i cant compare. But what i see is also for me there is always a difference between digital plugins and real synthesizer. More or less but my Wavestation as a real gear sounds to my ears more saturated. The Hydra has some potential with the 2 filter settings. I'll go into that a little more in the next video. They have a "warm mode" built in to create a bit of a tube sound. Certainly there is a difference between digital and analog filters and I think your devices are a completely different sphere and you can do sounds that I can't do.

@@seancoolmusic I certainly enjoy digital synths as well and love the fact that each synth has a personality. I started collecting them about 10 years ago as I built a personal music studio and filled it with my dream synths. Ill look for your next video.

I changed used encoders with better used ones and repaired old ones to do a refresh. Now they work like new encoders. I will try to do a video about that.

Hi! Thanks for your comment and questions. So the Alesis Multipad is for me enough and i use it not very often. So some people think the content managment like the sample to pad or kit creation needs better ways maybe a software editor. And yes i agree if you want to do often create new kits. For me i use it with the stock sounds and sometimes i load a sample into it ( record or by card ). Maybe the overall quality with the Rolandseries is better but for me it is absolut ok and i think it sounds very good and its fun to play. The Combination with the Akai is in one way a problem for me because i tried to record the midinotes i played on the pads from the multistrike but i had always midinotes and timing issues and i found no fix for it. But its a long time ago i tried this and maybe i have to check it again ... I have the MPC Live, One and X. I dont use CV outputs because i dont use my Synth Hydra with CV. I like the format of the Live without the soundbox, because it fits into one of my little 19" music rack. The X is big and has better options for realtime control with 16 encoder and 10" screen but you need the space. The one is very good between both and i use it for the software mostly as a remotecontroller. Nice format, many buttons good standalone possibility but reduced connections. I had the RC-505 MK1 but it was to limited for me but you can do very fast samplephrases. The 404 MK2 seems in many ways very interesting and has some nice shortcuts and should sound very good but i dont have any experience with this gear. In my opinion the AKAI MPC Line is a very good combination between Standalone and Software. You can buy some add on synths and the quality overall is good. It is not perfect and very easy to handle all that stuff with MPC OS but many people like it and it has a lot of options with sampling, synths, drumcomputer and midi. A nice thing is you can create stuff on the MPC in standalone and finish it with the DAW MPC if you want. A nice combination of both worlds: Standalone and PC/MAC Software with more CPU Power. Sean

@@cervantesthenilbog7513 I dont have the Arturia Minfreak. The Hydra is a very good sounding complex synth and in my opinion it is a challange to produce very good complex structures but when you have one you know how powerfull it is. Maybe the Minifreak is in some ways better to create good sounds on a easy way. Last one is the deepmind, its analog but you have nice options and also it is good sound in not so complex like the hydra.

Yes they are really rare and the prices on the used market are extremely high. One card was in a used A3000 another one I bought for 150 €. Sometimes you are lucky but the offer is sometimes really tiny even if you want to buy something in your area.

Hi, i changed the internal zip with a CF Card writer from the company startech ( you can find this on amazon ). It worked immediately without any changes. It was plug and play for me. Pull out the Zip and install the startech Reader Writer. For the update to the last firmware i used a older external soundcard with 5 Pin Midi connection from Steinberg ( UR22 ) with USB and a Mac Computer. For the transfer i used the software UPDSMF from Roland and all the updatefiles from the Rolandpage. I didnt used a update zip because it made problems. So i transfered the update midifiles one by one and that was the best way for me.

Hi. Ich wollte dazu auch noch ein Video machen. Es gibt für mich im Moment nur eine Möglichkeit! Ich muss auch einen Umweg gehen indem ich einen Yamaha A 4000 oder A 5000 mit einem Zip Laufwerk das am internen IDE Port des Samplers angeschlossen ist benutze. Man kann dann vom PC Wave Files auf ein externes USB ZIP Laufwerk laden. Dann in den Yamaha Sampler A4000 / A5000 importieren und in das vorhandene Yamaha Format konvertieren. Dieses File/Files dann per SCSI an den Yamaha SU 700 senden. Ich nutze keinen PC direkt für SCSI als Daten Transfer, sondern lediglich SCSI2SD. Also: Wavefiles -> USB ZIP -> A4000/5000 internes Zip -> Format konvertieren -> SCSI2SD speichern -> SCSI Kabel mit A4000\A5000 und SU 700 verbinden und dann kann man die Dateien im SU 700 abrufen und nutzen. Und wie du vielleicht jetzt schon lesen kannst du benötigst dafür wie in meinem Falle zusätzlich ein Yamaha A 4000 / A 5000 Sampler mit einem IDE ZIP Laufwerk und ein SCSI Speichermedium. Ich habe keinen PC im Moment mit einem SCSI Interface da kann die Prozedur etwas anders aussehen. SCSI2SD Dateien kannst du wahrscheinlich wie in meinem Fall auch nicht am PC nutzen. Das ist leider inkompatibel. Kurz um zu deiner Antwort: Ich habe leider keine andere Möglichkeit gefunden direkt Wave Files in den SU 700 Sampler zu laden weil das ein komplett eigenes PC unbekanntes Yamaha Format ist. Man muss also einen Umweg gehen und das kann schon ziemlich nervig sein 🤣
