My first love, Sarah, died aged just sweet sixteen in 1980. I miss her still 😪 💔

2024. Still powerful. Finbarr is one of the best singers ever to come out of Ireland. Up there with Luke Kelly for emotional interpretation. X

This gr8 song always reminds me of 'the Shakey" in Williamson sq Liverpool.. and all those gr8 socialist hearts who believed we could fight for freedom and dignity. I was about 16 then and I am nearly 60 now.. I have never said thanks but God bless and keep the spear burning

This song holds so many memories for me but the most poignant is Aishling Murphys' dad Ray singing it on the banks of the canal for his beautiful daughter with his band mates. It hit hard. Rest in peace Aishling 💔 xx

Well I haven't heard this song since my daughter's great grandad was singing to it 24 years ago. I hadn't visited his grave for 21 years as I moved away. I visited his grave yesterday. Tonight this song popped up. He was an Irish man & I always linked this song to him because he has the same accent & sounds like the singer. I feel he was saying hello. Miss you Frank 😢

28th October 2024 I was playing this 'chune' on repeat in the car today...my randomiser just gave it to me in a pleasant surprise. Hadn't played it in a while. Love the vocal interplay between Richie and his bigger brothers Pliers and Spanner. Wicked tune...and still sounds fresh after all these years!!!! It had to be a master producer such as the Great Clive Hunt behind this one!!!

As I leave behind Neidin It's like purple splashed on green My soul is strangely fed Through the winding hills ahead And she plays a melody On wind and streams for me Won't you remember? Won't you remember? Won't you remember me? And we wind and climb and fall Like the greatest waltz of all Float across the floor Her sweet breath outside the door And it's time that I was gone Cross the silver tear Won't you remember? Won't you remember? Won't you remember me? Won't you remember? Won't you remember? Won't you remember me? As I leave behind Neidin In the hall where we have been Rhododendrons in your hair In the mountain scented air I still feel her spirit song Cross the silver tear Won't you remember? Won't you remember? Won't you remember me? Won't you remember? Won't you remember? Won't you remember me? I leave behind Neidin Source: LyricFind Songwriters: Jimmy Maccarthy

My father used to sing this song to my mother she was 16 when they first met. My wife was 18 when I met her, used to sing this song to her but sang 18 instead. We married when she was 22 I was26. She died over30 years ago. Have never married again, as she was the very best and the almighty broke the mold when he made her. Rest in peace dear Pat, until we meet again.
