Guys, i have a gree flex that is triggering aux heat come in while temps are well above 50 degrees F. I had issues with the gree defrosting in canadian winter and i think technician tweaked the pumo to go on defrost regularly.... its abnormal that a heat pump pushes in when its warm out there. Any thoughts please ? Thks.

Another question, when we install the 3 ton Flexx with a 5kW heat strip when the temperatures drop below the submittal lowest temperature, is the heat strip the only thing providing heat? Also I want to verify if the Flexx is providing heat at the same time as the 5kW heat strip with a dual fuel thermostat? If it does, that means we are getting effective heat even below our -26C design temperature here in Calgary, AB. Going 100% electric here, no combustion for anything in our house.

Can I get the Flexx 3 Ton with Ultra Heat for use in a ducted system so that I can get heat down to -35F?

Wait, so aren't these DC motors effectively 3 phase AC?

We got three mini splits that we've had for several years. We just added three more in the den, living room, and office but we rarely turn those on. When it's hot we often hibernate in our bedrooms. We use them 99% for A/C. We have a gas heater for now that we only run from 6 to 9 a.m. in the cold months. We have 3.5 KW of solar that we've had for 21 years. The problem is when we would like heat, the sun is not shining as much. We are just too used to having a negative electric bill. Hard to use the mini splits for heat when it could put our electric bill in the positive side.

I put a small bead of clear silicone around the perimeter, because if you don’t, you’ll be sucking in dirt for the next 10 to 15 years. Look at your old ones when you remove them and see how dirty the backside of the unit is. It’s easy to take a razor and cut it loose if you need to work on it. When you reinstall it that nice clean cut seals up again.
