He selling our country to foreigners. Did I hear trump correctly (beginning at approx 2:37 in the video) he said - so Hussein we are gonna work with you and make sure everything goes smoothly. We have powers that haven't been used in terms of environmental. Anyone who invests over a billion dollars in the U.S. we are going to give expedited reviews for everyone they are afraid they will get caught in the quackmire (awkward, complex or hazardous situation - in other words, they are illegals coming into our country). Just to make it clear: this is NOT the start of high speed rail tracks. This ceremony is for the start of the railhead, which will be the staging area for the high speed rail track materials and equipment. Completion of this is anticipated to take about 8-9 months (according to CHSRA’s timeline). The actual start of installing HSR tracks and systems will likely be in 2026. Civil works (i.e. structures and the guideway) on the 119 miles currently under construction are anticipated to wrap up by the end of 2026, with the 22 miles of CP 4, where this ceremony is at, substantially completed (waiting on one last canal realignment which is being done by a third party, not CHSRA or the CP 4 contractor). Civil works on the extension from CP 4 to Bakersfield is funded and should be starting up either this year or 2026. Civil works from Madera to Merced is not yet funded, but is expected to begin within a few years.

It does take technical skill to create a data base and operate it. Economists say are trade deficit, going continuously back to about to the mid 1970's, where imports are greater than exports, means we have had to import savings from foreigners. We should hesitate before getting upset about foreigners spending money to build and operate facilities in America.

Except it will be high speed rail. It’s being designed and built for speeds of 250 mph, 220 mph in revenue service. This initial operating segment, or IOS, between Merced and Bakersfield is anticipated to open in the early 2030s, and connect with other rail and bus transit services to the Bay Area/NorCal and SoCal. It’s true there isn’t funding secured yet for beyond the Valley, minus what’s been spent to help electrify Caltrain and several other rail corridor improvement projects in the Bay Area and SoCal. The sooner those next segments to SF and LA get funded, the sooner they’ll happen and less they’ll cost. HSR is also a better long term deal than continuing to expand freeways and airports, both less expensive and more beneficial.

@@ChrisJones-gx7fc I can only agree with that. The benefits of the railway will not be seen until the first section is opened to the public. After that, the next stage can be built much faster. (The opening of the first shinkansen was also strongly opposed in Japan) The fact that it costs so much is partly due to the stupidity of the hyperloop and the car lobby.
