got a saturn astra xe. just a side note for those who are looking at these. the coil packs (gm original) fail constantly, they're rated for 30k .... i'll repeat. the coil packs are rated for 30k miles. and it's a coil pack, meaning it's the lightning hoses and whirler in one. other than that as long has you keep up with the maintenance they're fun little cars, keep an eye on the timing belts. these cars will self destruct if it breaks while driving, all the interference. great cars for people who love to tinker and have some auto experience. i wouldn't recommend it if you don't know how to take care of cars though, cause these are a fix them before they break car.

I had an an Astra as my first car. Loved the handling, visibility, and ease of parking.
@vaxobasilidze25593 жыл бұрын
I owned this model for 4.5 years. It had 43k miles when I got it and had around 67k miles when I sold it. Almost no problems with the car, literally just couple minor issues and that was all (Mostly with electricity, that was fixed in few minutes). It had a pretty rough ride but handled well instead. The audio system was amazing for the class and price (I wish my current car had the same bass quality, despite my new car is way better in all aspects and has premium audio system). The interior started to make some noises when driving on bumpy road after 60k miles (Mostly the doors). Salon is mostly plastic, but not a bad built vehicle overall.

And the looks were just amazing. One of the best looking hatchback in my opinion. Mine was a red one and it was beautiful (I'm talking about 3 door versions)

Hello Murphand, on your Astra the trip computer says that you had a Range of 335 miles with a Full Tank. Did you really get that 335 miles range?
@murphand3 жыл бұрын
Depending on how I drove it would range between 275 and 300 miles a tank. Average mpg was around 28
@edgarfabila59213 жыл бұрын
So I assume it never reached the 335 range as the computer says... Thank you for the reply man ;)

I owned a 2008 and I liked it very much. It never broke down, it never gave me any issues in my two years of ownership. It handled great and had wide tires for a small car ,P225 18's. Cons are parts are expensive and difficult to find with little aftermarket support, they depreciate like crazy, timing belts not chain, low on power although my 5 speed woke it up a bit. When loaded with weight I could sometimes smell clutch as it struggled. The 2011 305hp V6 mustang traded my astra in for gets better fuel economy. I do miss this car for it's simplicity and reliability but overall I love my 2011 mustang more as it's just as reliable (knock on wood) but is better in every way the astra lacks.

Yes, it's an Opel/Vauxhall in the UK. But in the US, it was imported under the Saturn brand. It only imported for the 2008 model year. This video is posted and shot in the US.

This has the sport tuned suspension compared to the 5 doors colbalt like suspension. It's a nice mix between soft and hard and the only time I find it annoying is when I travel down cobble or brick streets. I will say it rides a lot better than a Mini Cooper S which is the car I almost bought over this

@murphand12 жыл бұрын
@MysticGon The standard maintenance I've put in to it has cost about the same as any other GM. Any parts we don't already here in the states would cost more to be imported but so far for the 30k miles that are on it now it has been problem free!
