I guess Billboard's list of one hit wonders combined with mine stirs up some angry comments. You may personally like certain of these groups but one hit wonder means a song that made the Top 40 in the U.S. and doesn't mean they didn't have other good songs. Post your own videos if you think you can do better and let the nasty comments come your way.

This is a great shortlist of songs (which is always hard to do as there were so many great songs back then). "Livin' Thing" was my jam back in the day and I'm still a big ELO fan to this day. It's hard to believe their highest charting song in the US was "Don't Bring Me Down" (#4 in 1979). Even "Mr Blue Sky" only reached #35 in 1978... and now it's got over 1 billion streams on Spotify. Anyway... lots of great songs on this list!

Sonny, fantastic lineup. How much do I love doo wop ? I bought the CD ‘The Schoolboys And The Students Back To "Doo-Wop" School’ I’ve played it so many times the laser’s burning through. Lol. We had a guy at work that we couldn’t convince Bobby Day’s song wasn’t “Rocky Robin” that’s his name. Common knowledge I guess. "To Know Him Is to Love Him" is a song written by Phil Spector, inspired by his father's gravestone, "To Know Him Was to Love Him". The Teddy Bears was the only vocal group of which he was a member. Laurie London was a English BOY singer. He was 13 when he recorded “He’s got ….” Earl grant was a classicly trained pianist, organist, and vocalist. Here in Pittsburgh PA, the fascinators were a major group. They had songs like “Oh Rosemarie”,” Chapel Bells” & “Who Do You Think You Are?” Thanks for the memories!

"We had a guy at work that we couldn’t convince Bobby Day’s song wasn’t “Rocky Robin” that’s his name." Reminds me of a maniac radio DJ, who was our equivalent of Adrian Cronauer. "Do you suffer from chronic lyricosis? Help is available. Call now. The number is on your screen."

Domenico Modugno might have had only one hit in the USA, he only sang in Italian. But, by no means he was a one hit wonder. He had many hits in Italy, self penned (both alone and contributing) and covered He also had more hits in the USA sung by other artists in English; Ciao Ciao Bambina by Connie Francis comes to mind. Also, Sheb Wooley was by no means a one hit wonder. Hit had several before the Purple People Eater and he had some after that, not only as Sheb Wooley but also as Ben Colder.

@@sonnysoldies5288 Put it this way: Willie Nelson had discovered Julio Iglesias only to learn that he was a star in Europe. You didn't say that only the U.S. Top 40 count. For me a One-Hit-Wonder is somebody, who has one hit only in all charts combined.

My dad was born in '26... My mom was born in '43. She was 15 when these songs were hits and she owned a lot of these on 78's I would play as a kid. The 78rpm record format lasted longer in Canada before being phased out by 1960-ish. I was pleasantly surprised... I was thinking "oldies" music didn't have much appeal to me- yet I managed to sing along with half this set and I hadn't heard them in almost 50 years!

Sonny, this an almost perfect compilation. The Jamies “Summertime, Summertime “ was so cute and every kids summer dream. The Silhouettes "Get a Job" was the inspiration for Smokey Robinson's “Got a Job” this song was clearly crossing the line from R&B to R&R. On Huey piano Smith… “Don't You Just Know It” Smith played the piano and the probable lead singer was Bobbie Marchan, it wasn’t listed but he was in the group and it sounded like him. The Monotones were from Newark New Jersey. They all began singing with the New Hope Baptist Choir, directed by Cissy Houston, who was related to the lead singer Charles Patrick and Whitney Houston's aunt. Jan & Arnie were Jan Berry & Arnie Ginsburg. Later Jan would join with Dean Torrance to become Jan & Dean. Yes ! One of the biggest surf culture groups. I could go on but every ballad on this set is dreamy.
