Those were the great days of nitro funny car racing. And Raymond Beadle was one of the best !!

I remember seeing Raymond Beadle and the Blue Max pull into National raceway on LI to test and tune before the Englishtown race one year. It must have been around 1977 or so. No big rig, just a pickup truck and a trailer. Good memories.

This is a wonderful tribute to one of the best funny car drivers. I saw the Blue Max many times and Raymond Beadle always was one of my favorites. Very well done.

zoomie headers don't belong on a normally aspirated engine...you are losing power

It’s injected nitro. Zoomies are needed.

Ya need a pic or 2 of the 82 Gatornationals when beadle had a slow drift, over corrected flipped it on its roof into opposite lane guardrail tore the body off then flipped in back on the tires and beadle drove it through the traps in his lane, in less than 10 seconds.

The cars just sound so crap in comparison to nitro cars of the 80's. What have they done to them to make them sound like that! that swisshing sound? Whers the crackle and the dry hps, Bap!,Bap, Bap, creaping into stage. Very littel excitement like there used to be. Some of the engines still look good though.
@Mike_Collins3923 жыл бұрын
The rear distributer engines ( 392 - 417 ) always sound better in my opinion , but have missed out on any serious development for the past 35 years or more. I would love to go back in time ( 1959 - 1963 )and sit in on a Monday morning meetings with the Chrysler execs passing around the weekend drag racing results showing front engine hemi engines . The engine design that they just canned smashing everything else.

I love the promod verse fuel altered races, they're a lot of fun..! I do know that they need to run it as a standard elimination bracket not Chicago style though whenever possible... the Nitro Fuel altereds and the pro mods/outlaw Pro mods are all able to run into the 3.70s or 3.60's on a decent night ...but sadly, with the outlaw fuel altered Association specifically (even though in the past it was always a 4.00 index for qualifying, then number one qualifier to the final and everybody else races but it's still fastest time to get you to the final...so a lot of a Nitro guys had timers to shut off in qualifying, bit that's all...BUT... since you can run Nitro, methanol or whatever percentage of both you want, they made a rule a few years back to maybe keep pricing down and especially to keep some parody between the Nitro guys vs alcohol guys - so instead of running balls-to-the wall in the finals/eliminations -- they set a minimum ET (3.80 I think..?) that you can't exceeded, period... unfortunately when you have cars shutting off after 2 seconds and coasting during an eighth mile race, the quality of the event somewhat starts speaking for itself...which is a bummer because I love fuel altereds AND that organization... there are Nitro guys that have their cars set to run wide open throttle to the 8th without going too quick but anytime you have a class where both Nitro and alcohol cars are running the same blower, there won't be parody because they have it set up to where the fuel altereds cannot put a new clutch in, keeps costs down and such. Which is great for a while but anyways, too much battling on my end LOL thanks for the awesome upload!
