Man... I can't believe this mod is still popular! I bought about 7 Telefunken 12ax7 tubes from someone off Craigslist about 20 years ago to do this mod but I never did. I may just do it now!!

I honestly didn't expect how good the 163x sounds! It was my favorite on your kick drum. Didn't expect that from such a cheap unit.

Thanks for this vid! I've spent my musical life on stage but since the pandemic have started doing more producing and it's been a long struggle. Vids like this help me out more than you know!

It is possible to select a region and have the start end markers automatically set to it? Seems like a basic thing, but I can’t find it.

Good demo. Def gives you an idea of the 3 position e906 vs the SM57. But I would have liked to hear some lead tone comparisons.

The 8000's had a design flaw where the voltage regulators burnt out because they ran too hot. Too much current flow. $4 part. Replace them, add your own heat sink, and they will run forever. Repaired many of them. There was soo little difference in the A/B test the 8000 is basically the same, which makes the 8000 the choice for $200 less cost.

Is this the same process with the larger Golden Age Project UniteBig rack that they sell for their Comp 2a and Comp 3a? Is it necessary to rack them? I can't find any info on how to rack them and if that tray is needed.

I like warm and owned that exact preamp. After a few months, I had scratchy pots, which is something I wouldn't expect after a few months. At the same time I bought a wa47 which sounded great. But after a few years the power supply developed a hum, which I couldn't fix. The bottom line with warm is that they sell good enough products, but slightly more expensive than other clone products but watch out for reliability issues. I now now a GAP 73 preamp with a an avantone cv12, which to my ears sounds like a more radio ready vocal sound. I never did use the eq whilst tracking anyway.

Lifesaver buddy! From 2013 to 2023 i was without my studio and reaper. All i had was a phone to make music with. So i forgot a lot of stuff. V4 to a month b4 v7 with reaper , a lot has changed , but i cant even remember some of the obvious stuff. Homelessness, kicked my ass after the flashflood destroyed my home. But i finally have stability in life. Catching up on reaper . Thanks again !

Hi I'd like to know if there is some kind of monitor or none cause I can't see headphones, I'm thinking this is quite impossible for louder genres. Amazing final product you got there by the way.

The widdly guitar music in the background is annoying and unnecessary, but the video is a very clear explanation, thanks.
