I have had mine for several years. No problems once I read and understood the manual. I added a smear of silicone grease to threads and O-rings. I used a large snap-swivel and a key ring retractor to fasten to a belt loop. I prefer the 9v battery as I could easily replace in the field and not wait to recharge. And I like not having another charger to keep track of. I change mine yearly but haven’t seen it discharged. I use mine on “vibrate only” mode so I don’t worry about holes over speaker. This is a tough, industrial grade pin-pointer. Down-side? It is a little bulky.

Thanks for the honest review.I love my pro 35. No issues accessing the battery compartment at all. I have not had to replace the battery for well over 6 months now and I detect at least twice a week. I do however remove the battery when not in use. Good tip is to ground balance the pinpointer each time you turn it on, makes it even more effective and precise.

As of 1 March 2024 it's $95.00 on Amazon. Yes, the, lanyard is ridiculous, replaced it. Overall, much better than the carrot I started with.

I have the Simplex and yes it is a very good beginner machine but when you take it to the beach . I have taken mine two different times put The ground balance to zero nothing I could do but stop the chatter . So it leads me to say I will be buying the Vanquish as my second Machine. I know you can’t go deep in the water with it , but I am in North Carolina farm Country and have lot of Fields , old abandon houses all around my house.

Awesome job! I don't remember who played who in the original sketch, but here you could see it - like in the flawless mimicking Palin in 05:23 (or Chapman in 08:15!) :)

Loved how you used the spaghetti westerns to describe the positives and negatives of the pinpointer. I have the pro-35 but I think I’m going to buy a rechargeable pinpointer next time. I paid $20 for two 9 volt batteries today. Ridiculous

Entry level, the average person does not need much more. If it can find something six inches you are doing good, A lot of city, county, state and federal parks do not want to go down much more than six inches.

Hi, Big Dog..., Impressive video and excellent information and "Thank you" for sharing the video ! ! * I have both metal detectors and the Minelab Vanquish 540 Pro Pack runs circles around the Nokta Makro Simplex + in "highly mineralized soil", and ( lots of Iron ) in mining country in southwest Montana... Historic Uptown Butte, Montana is known for "The "Richest Hill on Earth" and proves it by its mining and highly mineralized soil with Iron... * I have found more of just about anything with the Minelab Vanquish 540 Pro Pack..., and less with the Nokta Makro Simplex +. * I had a backyard lawn sale and sold the Nokta Makro Simplex + and glad I did... Impressive video and very informative, and "Thank you" for sharing the video and tests... "Semper Fi" Mike in Montana :)

I was specifically scouring KZbin this morning to find a video to remind me how to open the battery compartment on my minelab pro 35. I need to open it because due to an injury, I can't MD for a while and I need to remove the battery that's already been in there for 2 years. Thanks for letting me know that it's NOT me! I will now head to the garage for my channel locks. 😡 I also just bought n new "lanyard" (a real one). Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with my pinpointer. Thanks for the review.

I have a quick question. Back in the late 80s. I bought a Whites Pro Plus, and for a few years I've found many coins. 100s of 1800s. Since, I've concentrated basically on my home, but now I'm thinking about getting back into M.D. I'm heavily considering the 540. They're surely lighter, but today's machines must easily out perform the machines from the 80s and 90s, right?
