Oh, wow, I didn't expect Tom.K to be a winner of a Marble Arena 2 competition. Tom.K is known for reviweing Windows easter eggs and old computer viruses and trojans if you didn't know.

I remember when I said to myself, "That game kinda looks fake, or doesn't exist." But when I looked it up on the internet, I found the game, downloaded it, and it was actually really fun. I am surprised that this game brought me a lot of joy into me. The levels were fun, the graphics are cool, and the gameplay is awesome. I remember that there was a sequel to this game as well, and let's be honest. I loved the sequel as much as I liked the first game. Those were the days that I will never forget.

*We are about to lose this game. Please do what you can.* This is a cool game, but it isn't on the Mac app store anymore. This is because for some reason, the developers seem to have moved onto something else. So the only thing we can do at the moment is question "What is the reason?" Well, first let's look at the popularity of the game and this channel over time. The first video on the channel had over 360,000 views (!!!) and this one has 25,698. Also, Marble Arena 2 wasn't as popular as some other games in the Mac App Store. (63 ratings) So why is this? Well, I don't know how the interface of Marble Arena 1 works, because it… doesn’t work on MacOS anymore. But I do know that there are *major faults* in the interface of Marble Arena 2, which I will attempt to describe. First, it would be great if the keyboard configurations showed up when you first play the game. All that shows up is a message window. So you have to press F1 (you may have to press FN+F1, which is obscure) Next, the level's save-and-load mechanism has major issues, as explained by this reviewer: “Saving doesn't work. I made a lot of progress, but every time I continue my saved game, I click Resume Last Save. One time, I play a level outside of the Official Maps pack instead of resuming my last save, then the next time I try to resume last save, I lose all my progress. I then try to load a save from the save point gallery in the playground level, and it doesn't work. You will never get a good review from me unless this is fixed.” Based on many of these reviews as well, only 1 reviewer I've seen knows about the game's *awesome* 3D level creator. (And not even how to use it, I might add.) *First,* I should mention that Apple mice before 2000 did not have a scroll wheel or trackball. I tried pressing + and - on my standard keyboard, *as the obscure, half-full editing keys window tells me to do,* and nothing happened. So apparently either it *just doesn’t work* or it only works with a numeric pad keyboard, which many people are not going to invest in, due to bad keyboard design. (You can’t get a numeric keypad that goes onto your keyboard.) *Second,* it would be nice if the custom level initial settings window that appears when you first create a level would have an option to add layers of water, tarmac, lava, and other materials sequentially in any direction, and to apply choice textures to floors, ceilings, and walls individually to save time creating levels. Once the level is loaded, it would be great if it shows the “keys for editing” on the spot. And that obscure window doesn’t even show keys like M for Materials, and N for Entities. Even “Use the arrow keys to move the camera, and WASD or mouse to rotate the camera, *doesn’t display anywhere in the editor. Talk about obscure controls!* Also, it seems like every time you edit a level you have to press F to “enable” pushing and pulling selections. If you don’t know this, you can’t shape your level. Again, the game does not show this, even in the editing keys window. That is so stupid! *So based on this,* it makes sense why so many of these reviewers were like “This is just a ho-hum game with repetitive, corny carnival-like music and textures that look like a Photoshop color palette” and didn’t mention the editing tools. (Of course, many of them were critical of the saving issue, and unknowingly, the obscure “F to push/pull selections” thing I just mentioned.) Also, there’s a Sound Index slider under the A/V Effects tab of the New Entity window that controls what sound will be used when you select ‘New Sound’. *Even though… the effects could clearly have been listed in 2 columns under the sliders.* Under the World/AI tab, you can select New Hint, but you can’t add text to your hints. *Even though there’s, again, clearly enough room for a text field just below.* Under the Gameplay tab, you can select New Gravity Bubble”, but *you guessed it, there are 2 problems with this.* 1) They’re bigger in the native maps in this game, and apparently *you can’t make them bigger in your custom levels.* 2) You can’t change the gravity direction either. (Well, maybe you can in *some obscure way,* but I strongly digress. I’ve even tried selecting its hit box and pressing R + Wheel, and it didn’t work.) It’s also not easy to add stars to your levels, because when you select an area and try adding stars, it only adds one star to a certain place. Of course, you can click on the star’s hit box, press C, select another surface, and press V to paste it, but again, how is *anyone* supposed to figure that out…? More importantly, *why can you only add one star at a time instead of selecting an area? Why can’t you press 1, 2, 3, and 4 to paste stars either? Why is it that every time you want to switch to a different type of star, you have to copy an existing one or add a new one?* If you are a Marble Arena 2 developer reading this, I want you to realize that the reason this game is not as popular as you anticipated, which may be why you don't seem to have updated it in almost 5 years now and have moved on to other things, may be that the interface is just plain cryptic. It’s just… hard to use. And it’s *very unfortunate,* because this is a great 3D game where you can edit, share, and download levels. *Even though you aren’t given a clue on how to do this, and I haven’t been able to figure out how to share levels before the site was closed in 2017.* So please update the site and include more tutorials on how to use Marble Arena 2 (especially if you are *going* to update the game without redesigning the *cryptic, ridiculous interface.*) This game still runs fine, but it’s a bit blurry, a bit slow, and my computer gets a bit warm. I don’t know if that also happened on my old Mac though. (I recently upgraded) With new MacOS updates like High Sierra, it seems like the game won't work in the very near future. I know Minecraft is a popular editor where you can share levels online, but in that game, *you can’t angle blocks, change the grid power, there’s not nearly as many level/world settings, and generally, the game just feels more limited and less open.* (There are some differences though, but again, I digress.) Again, *please* update the game, *redesign* the interface, and *improve* compatibility. Unless the thing that you’re focused on instead right now is a life at stake, or an important job. *If you can't do this, please at least reply and acknowledge that you read this and have, sadly, moved on from Marble Arena.* *So in conclusion, it seems the best thing you can do as a viewer is to like this comment to help bring it to the top, so more people will read it, and it may even reach the developers.* (Probably not though.)

So, my previous comment got probably auto deleted by KZbin so I have to write this down again. If it was deleted by the channel owner, please let me know that you don't want these comments to appear. I've been trying to find information about the game author. (I know on IndieDB it says that Brightside Entertainment had 2 members but there are just no information about the second person working on the game) So, many sources as the game publisher, have a person who goes by name of Mihai Gabriel Ailioai. He has 2 LinkedIn accounts, first one was made in 2007 and second was made in 2013. Both of the accounts say that he's from Romania. The most important part is the contact info on the first account. If we go there, we can find 3 links. One leads to Marble Arena website, second leads to website of another game made by him and third website was his portfolio. All of the websites are dead by now, but if we go to wayback machine and try to look at what his portfolio website looked in 2007, we can see a website in which he says about his high school and after high school times. We can also see buttons that lead to his projects he made. The most important one is Pokie Magic, which was a website about gambling where the point was that you can't win or lose money. The second account says that he works for Pokie Magic. (Idk how the job thing works on LinkedIn but lets just assume it's the job) The website itself died at the start of 2022, possibly because of domain being unpaid. In 2011, Pokie Magic's company name was changed from Pokie Magic, to 616 Digital LLC for unknown reasons. Since Mihai Gabriel Ailioai's second account was created in 2013 we can tell that he was a part of that company after it's name change. And that where it basically ends. Edit: I've found their another website which can be accessed from their facebook. It seems that they're no longer support the "can't win or lose money" idea, but I might be wrong. They've also changed the company name from 616 Digital LLC to SixOneSix Digital S.R.L.
