I've read so many books about this history. Wonderful to hear from Ron himself and to gain some real insight. Thanks VCF and Dan Kottke.

Mark and his team are simply *FANTASTIC* in ingenuity and intelligence. Following the AGC series, several times i felt a sliver in my spine. Too sorry that Mike wasn't there. I would like to know, from him as a youngster, his opinion about th AGC Computer structure. Also I haven't seen any follow-up from the screen printed phenomenally reconstructed AGC display from Ben Krasnow. Thanks anyway for all your efforts.

Thanks so much for the memories! Our computer lab at Mohawk College had a PDP8e. I had the bootloader memorized by the end of the course. Our assignments were all in assembly using PAL8. I’m happy that I got to experience this vintage machine back in the 70’s…

I can't believe how laid-back Ken Thompson is in this talk. He’s got some incredible stories and truly is a living legend. Listening to the creator of UNIX makes me feel like anything is possible. I enjoyed this relaxed chat with a genius who's both self-effacing and humble.

Very interesting and the video is well done, allowing the projection to be viewed at all times rather than zooming in to the speaker as is too often done. The only suggestion would be to put any links shown on the slides into the video notes.

I learned Fortran on the 1130 while a work study student for Academic Computer at the University of Wisconsin, Stevens point. I was responsible for it's operation during my shift in the computer lab. Taught students how to use the key punch machines and how to submit their programs to the 1130. Later worked on adapting forestry and hydrology computer models to run on the 1130. This was the start to my 40 + year IT career.
