If I may offer two suggestions: PLEASE give a microphone to people who want to ask a question or make a comment. Out in YT land we could not hear anything from anyone which was very unfortunate. If that is not possible please repeat their question for the rest of us. Also it would be great if someone could pan the camera to the folks asking questions or making comments. I.e., have a dedicated camera person.

hey Gedas the camera person did not show up so we used the webcam. I know we had a mic but maybe the participants need some coaching. Good points will do next time.

Very nice presentation! The problem I have with visual astronomy is that light pollution has become so bad and it just keeps increasing 😞 I used to be able to see the core of the milky way when it was near zenith just 3 years ago (I live in the southern hemisphere). Not anymore, now i just see the brightest stars and that's about it. I have a a 12 inch skywatcher dob which I originally got for visual astronomy but now I use it for EAA (it's a goto dob). Without the camera very few objects are visible now. But happily the planets looks the same so atleast we have that 🙂

24:48 I was on my phone for the zoom meeting so I leaned in closer to read I wasn't expecting to get called out like that so I started laughing-

So when will Betelgeuse go supernova (or when we observe the light of the event arriving at Earth, 630 lightyear delay)? There is mixed info on youtube.

The current best guess is between 100,000 and 1 million years based on current mass and age estimates. See the Wiki article on it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betelgeuse#Life_phases

Are you wondering how to implement Einstein's mental experiment that determines the size of the universe?
