@beerwrenchgarage5 күн бұрын
Hey! Thanks for the view and comment! The foam insert measures right at 1 1/4 inch and the tallest socket is 1 inch in addition to that. So if you lay the foam in your toolbox drawer, you will need 2 1/4 inch of clearance. Hope that helps!
@sonofsteve5665 күн бұрын
@beerwrenchgarage thank you👍 I ended up going with the powerbuilt eva set...might not be icon quality but the set was more complete and layout and size was perfect for my ridgid pro drawer box, plus saved a few $$$$, all in all better deal for my specific needs.

I buy American made every time I can. I remember when you could buy Made in America clothes from Walmart. I am only 43. It is important to me to support other Americans and companies. I grew up just outside Philadelphia, Lukens steel and other plants employed so many of my family. I witnessed the economic fall of many families who had to move to places like Florida where construction was strong. I don't care anymore how close to being an exact copy of a tool is to Snapon or other US goods. When I know I am earning my living, literally holding a product another man or woman paid their rent producing, I feel a lot better than picturing the Chinese slave or Taiwanese 9 year old who made those.

It makes sense. With a simple tool like that, there's really only two considerations: fit, and metal quality. Basically, how bad can you screw up an extension? If it's halfway decent steel, and more or less to spec, you're golden
@beerwrenchgarage15 сағат бұрын
Great points - you pay for the precision of that last 1-2%. Pretty much all reputable extensions are at that 95% but if you want to get to the 98-99%, you got to go premium in most instances.
@Ninersfanatic7920 күн бұрын
Im not a Snap On fanboy but what I do need quality, I often trust Snap On or Mac. Recently, I had several extensions break n I started remembering how I ended up with such a small selection is from years of cheaper extensions snapping. Even ruining a few adapters, universals n sockets. So recently I have been picking up usedSnap On n Mac extensions and adapters such as a 1/2" to 3/8" universal impact adapter or 1/2" to 3/8" impact extension 4"- 6", I eventually need to get the bellhousing 18+". I don't trust Icon... Few bad experiences has me not wasting my time having to warranty in middle of projects.

People need to start doing their research and buying ppi. This more of a gray area I will say. Craig probably knows Hyundai and Kia’s are trash but took a gamble anyways. The buyer needed to make sure the car didn’t have potential internal failure going on already but failed to do so. Both sides are a bit wrong but it is the buyers fault for not researching more about the car especially that old.

I now own many Icon tools. Out of seven ratchets, I've only had a problem with one a few years ago, but they traded it in for a new one with no questions asked. I really like the quality of their sockets, extentions, and adapters. Just in my opinion, they are the best for the price point. Even the chrome socket stuff is made with chrome-moly steel instead of chrome vanadium, which makes them stronger than most others at the same relative price. I haven't broken a single socket, even when tightening to 250 ft. lbs. on axle nuts. But I don't use my chrome sockets on an impact either. You really can't go wrong with Icon, especially when there's coupons or sales.
@beerwrenchgarage21 күн бұрын
Yes Sir! I think you summarized it perfectly. ICON is one of THE BEST values going in the tool world right now.
@aussiehardwood619621 күн бұрын
You can actually buy Icon ratchets & socket set off Generic Amazon brands much cheaper. People will pay 2x the price for the same tools if they are in a fancy Icon box 😌. Now are Icon extensions 98% as good SnapOn? No that's not the case, but for many they will be fit for purpose and do the job for a fraction of the price of SO.
@EciOwnsYou21 күн бұрын
It's about the warranty. Go in and replace with no hassle is worth the higher price IMO.

Theres always a better way of doing things, sell this crap and buy a toyota corolla. You´ll get a car that works for gods sake. If there was several cars outside the shop in the morning, VAG´s and Japanese, the japanese was there to get a regular service, like oil and filters, the VAG pretty much was broken in some way, some of them got a tow there during the night. This was a common thing,.

Can a worn pump tensioner cause low pressure?
@beerwrenchgarage24 күн бұрын
To be honest, I dont think so. BUT a worn tensioner can fail and throw off the chain, causing the pump to quit and catastrophically affecting oil pressure. Great question, thank for asking!
@MrBojangles90124 күн бұрын
@@beerwrenchgarage No worries. The tensioner is quite worn in my engine and it's making the chain looser because it cuts 1-2 mm into the plastic. I couldn't torque down the bolt for the pump after inspecting the pump. It would just skip the teeth when I tried to do the initial torque of 20 Nm. And the low pressure problem is really strange because it only occurs during slowdown and only sometimes. Hot idle is fine.

Could you swap those ats calipers side to side depending on changing the bleeder screws? Just having trouble finding left and right calipers.
@beerwrenchgarage24 күн бұрын
Yeah - *think* you are correct - they can be interchanged as long as you switch out the bleeder. But the GNM part #'s are: 172-2768 (right) and 172-2777 (left). You can get calipers on Amazon and they are genuine GM parts.
@danderson988124 күн бұрын
Recieved 1 LH front drivers caliper, they are not symetrical. The brake hose hole is not centered-slightly to the top, and the pistons are about 1/8" to the top-not centered. So I ordered a RH passenger caliper to be safe. Prices were very reasonable for Brembo calipers!

How come your tie rod is above the knuckle ? Is this specific for all road? Or lift kits?
@beerwrenchgarageАй бұрын
Its just the Audi design for the C5 A6 - I dont think its specific to the Allroad. Now, the Allroad and the A6 DO have different control arms - but thats because of the Allroads air suspension and variable height. The tie rods are still situated in the same spot for both models (to my knowledge). Great question though - thanks for the view and comment!
