My favorite DP song, hands down. I actually wrote up a treatment for a movie based on it. I'm not saying it was any good... Surf Wisely.

I feel bad that this might be my favourite guitar solo of all time, since it's one of the least technical. But most people need a computer to work two notes that hard.

Exactly how I feel. It's simplistic but it's still my favorite by probably a huge margin. I'm not even sure what I would consider my 2nd favorite after this.

How long has it been since this album came out? I'm only realising NOW that during the second and third verses, there's the sound of a ringing cordless phone. It's as if he or any of their friends were trying to contact them. (...Does this mean that the song Life of Possibilities is Ben returning to the scene after ignoring everyone for so long? or is this just Travis being Travis?)
@dayzeed6 жыл бұрын
"Change" (2001) came after "Emergency & I" (1999) so the connection to "A Life of Possibilities" is highly unlikely
@loki35234 жыл бұрын
Nah, I think this song is entirely self-contained. Life Of Possibilities, at least to me, is in keeping with the existential young-adult theme that spans the album. Also, regarding what you said about the phone- during the instrumental outro, the little "boop" sounds from the previous verses occur in a sporadic fashion that would seem to imply the dialing of a phone.

one of the most under rated bands ever, I see they have some new stuff out these days, not too bad. never thought I'd get to see these dudes live, then one day they did the benefit for Cal, night 2, with A Life Of Possiblities opener, dream achieved.
