Major got some things right as PM including leaving a healthy economy in 1997 as well as starting the National Lottery and Northern Ireland peace process. But he was quite prepared to ruin people with mortgages and small businesses by raising interest rates to 15% on Black Wednesday. To him, Ken clarke and Michael Heseltine keeping the EU dream alive was far more important than his own citizens.

Only depressive realists truly grasp the situation: The old generation (who voted for Brexit) is bound to soon pass through the chimney as fumes. The next one makes new choices, as John Major has correctly pointed out. Only to then also pass through the chimney. All hail from "Europe", by a hun. (Chimney has been lent to the English by the French: cheminée, from "chemin" = path).
