Quite possibly Freddie’s worst performance ever. Here’s a scary fact though, we’re as far away from the 80s as the 80s was from the 40s.

Paul...you are talking about the crappy commercial dance music which gets into the mainstream charts, no problemo. but there is a lot of great innovative DM using different beats, etc. that doesn't get much exposure. hardly any in fact. And ironically you have shown THE HARD WAY, of making DM. Most "producers" use samples nowadays. :-0

Kinda worrying seeing John Peel having to ham it up - bet he hated doing it! Janice Long, trailblazer. Both sadly missed, for different reasons. Many musicians owe them a great deal. "Oooh ya beast!" Great to see them having fun. Yeah... "remedial surgery" for today's over-processed soulless muzak indeed...

You can tell the difference in the UK and the US stuff. In the 80s all UK music was basically trying to intellectual and US stuff couldn't do that at all, they just sounded like idiots 95% of them. This program probes that even more. 1979 to 1989 was the best time in music, everything was basically high end pop and new wave. So much good stuff. Unfortunately that was over by the time we got the 90s with all this britpop wank. But at least we got 10 years of brilliant stuff from England. Today's it's all douchebags that havent made 3 seconds of music worth listening to. UK have Mesh and the US have Light Asylum, and thats it.. the rest worth listening to is from the early 80s.
