Seems way more cost effective to just coat boards in bed liner yourself and then you could spray your bolt holes too. I could probably do both my bunks for under 100$.

Alright! I have successfully installed my new Tuff Bunks. Previously I struggled because the lag bolts did not fit my specific trailer. The company supplied a new bunk free of charge and even waived the shipping cost! Anyway, the installation was as easy as the video implied. All went very well. I have used them probably a dozen times (I fish a lot) and they are quit solid. They are more difficult to winch onto the trailer even when they are wet as the company directs. If it is a sunny, windy day, they dry off within a minute making loading more difficult. My winch is very heavy duty and I have above average strength; so, it has not been a big problem for me. On to positive statements: I will say they are very solid, high quality pieces that will probably last a long time. I agree they will likely prevent the spread of invasive species. The company really did come through for me and even provided a number to call if I struggled with installation again. Integrity means a lot to me and I feel this company really wanted me to be a satisfied customer. They succeeded! I am very pleaded with my purchase!

Although the concept may seem good. They will not last any longer than wood covered with carpet. Every screw hole will allow water to enter and rot the board. A better idea would have been to use a metal insert instead of wood. Less chance of sage over time.

We maintain the waterproof integrity of Tuff Bunk by recommending installation with urethane sealant on each lag bolt penetration. Carpet wrap holds water over the entire surface of the board, thereby promoting wood rot that isn't noticed until the complete failure of the board.

Don’t like the lag bolts. The wood around the lag bolts will rot out, and these will fall out. I would like to see a counter sunk bolt and nut, with a washer on the wood side with the holes epoxied during installation, or some of your material to waterproof the hole above the bolt and washer. I have GatorBak’s now and they are pretty good, but power loading does skin them up. Using the same boards Ranger used in the trailer from 1999. Not sure if they are pine. Likely not.

Hi Mikel, We feel with limited knowledge of the Tuff Bunk product you might feel the way you do at first glance. We do apologize for the lack of information; we are filming another video this Friday with all the updates from when we started one year ago until now. With over 1,000 boards shipped we have learned a lot and we plan to share it with the world. We agree with you, the mounting holes could be a point of failure over time, however, 4 to 10 holes in the board depending how long it is opposed to the entire board being wet with carpet. It is a night and day difference. They also dry quickly especially in the sun opposed to carpeted bunks. Carpeted bunks just set there dripping water for hours and remain damp for up to a week or more. We are now recommending a sealer for the bolts to help reduce or cut water entering this 100% sealed board. I wish we could use paint, but it would not do the job. The reformulated polyurethane chemical we use is $38.00 a gallon only because we buy it by the truck load, or it would be more. As far as price, we just received a 145% price increase on lumber and there again it would be higher, but we buy it by the truck load to keep the cost down. Also, something the consumer should know every Tuff Bunk board is a premium board to start with very few small knots. This improves strength and performance. The wood is also heat-treated, planed, and jointed at the lumber yard. When we receive the boards all small knot holes are filled, and all board are passed though a drum sander to get a better fit to the boat and improve the cosmetic appearance. They are then robotically, or hand sprayed with a high performance polyurethane coating. Tuff Bunk is not for everybody, but we will always do what we can to make products that help the consumer enjoy their boating experience. Kinds, Randy the Owner

Wow, for $260 I can replace my wood boards and the carpet on them probably at least 5 times. The second thing is, you're drilling a hike through the "tuff board" so water can and will easily get to the wood inside the coating and rot it out. With all that being said, seems like either a scam or they really didn't think this through.
@protechmats5274
@protechmats5274 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Junior, At first consumer might think Tuff Bunks are a scam, but nothing can be further from the truth. First, 2” x 4” and 2” x 6” lumber just went up 125%, check updated prices at your local lumber store. We hope prices will come down in the future. #2 All boards need to be kiln dried and planed as well as jointed. There is also a 10% cut off to make the Tuff Bunk, making sure all is good. All knot holes need to be filled and some boards get taken out because they have excessive knot holes. The chemical used as well as the process is expensive. All the prices you see on our web include shipping and that has gone way up as well. To tell the truth we have done thousands of Tuff Bunk Boards with very little profit. We are proud to offer this Patent Pending product and we will try to refine the process so we can keep it afloat because the consumer Loves It. Please feel free to call or email us for more information.

Well if you want my opinion on these bumps I just purchased three sets of 5 ft sections along with the lag bolts that attach it to the brackets I watch this video and I'd have to disagree with using 5/16 drill bit too big of a hole for a 3/8 lug bolt. I was lucky that I just drilled the holes for the first bunk when I went to tighten the lug bolt it would not tighten up cuz the hole was too big so I lost that bunk and a modify it with a bigger lug bolt . I would suggest using a 1/4 drill bit apply Marine adhesive sealant and then tighten it down now I'm going to have to figure out what to do with this loose bunk good luck

I can tell you one thing for sure this product was not developed to rip anybody off. You are correct the boards are coated with reformulated bed liner. You have to look at the inter process to understand how much work goes into the board itself to prepare it for coating. One thing that makes this product so great is that you cant get good boards at a retail outlet. We purchase our boards in large volume and every board is plain, jointed, knot holes repaired and hand sanded to perfection. As far as the coating goes we apply it via robot and by hand. The chemical is very expensive, this is not a get rich scheme that's for sure. With all of that said, we are proud we can offer it and the fishing boaters are one of the best customers to offer it to. Best Regards, Randy

With carpet I can unhook the boat and someone can drop me in the water. Are these too slick for that like other carpetless setups I've been reading.. Also, is the material hard or like rubberized? Would be great to get a sample or something. Can these be counter sunk, or only option to bolt on is lag bolts? I don't want to revisit my trailer bunks again, it's a hassle to get to, reason why I'm looking for something more permanent to carpeted wood.

All of the users so far have not noted that they are slippery. We just purchased a crane scale and plan to make a video on how many pounds of pull strength these Tuff Bunks have compare to carpet. The high performance coating that we use is reformulated truck bed coating chemical design by the chemical manufacturer for this use. Tuff Bunk has a Semi hard rubberized coating that offers high surfaced abrasion strength. The boards can be counter sunk for through bolting with carriage bolts. Our dream is to manufacturer and supply the last bunk you will ever buy! Samples are available please email your request and we will forward one ASAP. Thank you for your interest! Made in USA, Patent Pending.
