So heartwarming to see families working together to restructure what previous generations carelessly squandered. To see the future in the hands of knowledgeable and capable, caring young people gives one great hope that habitat can be replenished and our native flora and fauna returned to their natural environment. Well done, everyone! Keep forging forward for the sake of our unique creatures and landscape.

Aren't the trees a little too close?
@GreeningAustraliaNational7 ай бұрын
Hey Frances, thanks for your question. Not all of the plants that went in the ground here are large canopy species, some are shrubs or ground cover plants. The trees will be spaced out to account for how big they'll grow, ensuring that there is less competition between them for light, water and nutrients, giving them all the best chance for survival 🌱

The fact that these riparian works are done is positive. The issue is that the Willow stumps mostly regenerate (after felling and poison is applied) and nobody cares for the natives that have been planted. The majority die and the Willows retake the area. Also, with Willows being upstream you are fighting a losing battle. The Westerway Raspberry farm and the works on the Lachlan in New Norfolk are a testament to this being a total waste of money and resource. There has never been successful removal of Willows unless you start from the very top of the river system and work downwards. Starting in the lower reaches is pointless!!!

Today is the UN International Day of Forests! Australia is home to a massive 24,000 native plant species that make up our incredible forests, and today we're celebrating how much they do for us. From providing us with food, clean water, oxygen, and medicines, to improving our mental health - our forests support us unconditionally. Did you know we aim to plant 500 million trees by 2030? Head to our website to find out how you can help. #internationaldayofforests

Love the idea of using the Money Tree to represent the importance of taking care of the environment. However, please drop the fearmongering as the climate is constantly changing. It's much better to focus on bringing everyone together to support the natural world than to push some people away just because they recognise how political activists bully the scientific community into providing specious reports for personal gain.
