Just found your channel. Those were great catches. What depth were you going for? I’ve never tried a Carolina Rig. We have Old Town kayaks too.

There is a lot of rock in the lake. I was targeting mostly steep ledges that dropped down to 20-30' of water where there were rocks

Nice channel, subbed. I live in central MA. Do you need a special reservoir permit to put a boat in the Quabbin? Canoes? Thank you.

These fish were caught on a Z-Man TRD TicklerZ. Color is Green Pumpkin Orange. Using it on a Z-Man Pro Shroomz Ned Rig Jig Head, 1/6oz. 10lb braid with an 8lb flouro leader

love it! i fish here with my buddy from time to time. left my line out and broke off on two nice smallies a week ago. We were also using ned rigs. any other suggestions for this time of year, post-spawn?
@kndhrty Жыл бұрын
also is that braid?
@mtareila Жыл бұрын
Most of the fish caught on this video were on or around beds. For post-spawn I usually start with targeting ledges right next to the spawning flat. Its so hard to fish along these ledges without a trolling motor, especially when its windy. I try anchoring on the edge of the flat and casting along the ledge. That approach worked for me mid-June. But it wasn't working well late June (the last time I went out). I need to figure out their summer patterns..

I’m from CT and going on a vacation to Lake Cobbosseecontee in a couple of days. What do you have the best luck catching them on? Also if you have any other secrets spots or whatever you would wanna share. Haha

When we were there the fish were just starting to spawn and were up shallow. They're probably in their post spawn stage now (on deeper water next to the shallow spawning areas). Or maybe they're still shallow guarding their fry? I'm not really sure.. We were catching them on jerk baits, ned rigs, and little swim baits mostly.. Good luck!

Nice smallmouths. I did ok, on the smallies this year so far. Caught a few 2.5 lbs trolling. The rest were small. My largest from Quabbin was around 5 lbs on my fly rod.
@mtareila2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I'm a novice at Quabbin. You're at a disadvantage in the rented boats, especially when it's windy. A nice trolling motor would be key!

@@mtareilaI I hear you on that. I used to rent boats there but It got old after awhile that's why I bought my own boat and customized it to the way I want it. I set it up for trolling and a casting deck with compartments underneath for my battery, tackle and other gear, etc. I love it.
