Self thought means you tube was your teacher. Me too. But don’t say you thought yourself and give credit to the nice people on you tube who actually thought you how to play.

Sounds like every other KZbin guitar player. Not saying it's bad. It's just unremarkable. If a fat, ugly dude posted this, they'd get roasted. Women are held to a lower standard because of misogyny. Especially by creepy dudes who watch guitar videos. Most of them clearly harnor a lot of internalized misogyny. Ur talented. U just lack originality. Don't be afraid to break the rules and sound different. You'll get there. 6 years is nothing. Get a teacher who knows music theory, and you will progress more in 1 year than the entire previous 6. Not everyone has to sound like Ichika Nito. The goal is to sound like yourself. Not like Clapton, Ichika, Hendrix, or God forbid Mish Mansoor. (Take their techniques and make them your own. Good artists copy. Great ones, steal.) Just don't copy Misha. I only threw him out as an example of a dude who's worshipped by the online guitar community but ultimately makes music for all the wrong reasons. Not to move people emotionally, but to show off how "talented" he thinks he is & to sell overpriced signature gear to 12-year-olds. Mansoor's music is dreadful, soulless joyless, emotionless, and self-indulgent. Don't ever fall into any of those categories. And his band Polyphany is the worst thing to happen to "guitar music" in a decade. More Shoegaze, less soulless "prog math rock" aka look how fast I can play music. Like Misha. He stinks. His overpriced signature gear stinks and is totally unremarkable in every way. Everything Polyphany tries to do has already been done by real math rock bands like the OGs: Dillinger Escape Plan. Or by the short lived, but incredible band Chon. Props for not falling into the "minor pentatonic rabbit hole" that many get stuck in. Everyone can sing. Practice and write some lyrics to go with those progressions. Idk what music u like. But you'd sound good covering Mazzy Star, Elliot Smith, and stuff like that. And pick lead or rhythm. Nobody can do everything. Either be a lead shredder. Or bust out those pipes and play rhythm and sing. U liked La La Land, so you must have at least some desire to sing. Sing some Joy Division or Smiths & your channel will blow up. Sorry for the stoned rant. Just offering what I've learned over the past 19 years of playing. Takeaway: Kevin Shields is King & Bilinda Butcher is Queen. Listen to My Bloody Valentine if u haven't already. You won't like it at first, but like all great art it will reveal new layers and emotions upon each revisit. And, Elliot Smith & Kurt Cobain were better guitarists than Ichika or Misha Mansoor. Because they weren't just showing off and shilling endorsements. They were playing as a background to incredible songs & lyrics that moved people and changed lives. THAT is the whole point of music. Not getting likes. Not showing off. And not getting endorsements as an influencer (yuck). But to create music that evokes emotion and helps people get thru this hellish world we find ourselves in. PS find a teacher to show u some music theory. IE writing chord progressions and using interesting chords like 7ths, 9ths, and diminished chords. You will progress so quickly because your technical chops are up to snuff. Learn to cover an Elliot Smith song on guitar & vocals and u will learn a lot of great tricks more a true master of songwriting. And get some fuzz and effects pedals up in the mix. U already have a Jazzmaster, so you're halfway to being a Shoegaze artist. Loveless by MBV. Listen to it every night before bed. Not hating. Not mansplaining. Just my 2 cents. Do with them what you will. Who am I? Just some random nerd. Much love and good vibes 2 you.

Oh my goodness...Molly...lol That bassline is so funky & groovy, I can't even process yet what masterpiece I've just heard. Is there an instrument you can't play? Lol I mean seriously... there's talent & then there's a natural born gift. Which you truly have unfolded in pursuing the art of music. You are definitely the piano roll equivalent of infinite loop formulas. Every note, every spacing, every constellation... it's all just sooo perfect. I'd really like to see or hear about your creative process & if you're just improvising or actually writing down the music first & then play it? What's this song called? In fact, where can I purchase your albums? I mean I know that you got some songs online, but I wanna support you. Cause you truly have something special inside you. And I love how every fabric of your being is vibing & just being totally zoned out & in the moment. We have that in common pretty much. Which is honestly the greatest part of being a musician. I really love your music sooo much Molly If you're ever looking to collaborate some day hit me up Peace, Love & Happiness to you ❤
