Just stumbling into this and I am amazed at how much I resonate with your story. We are 4 siblings but we have always been more than 7 people in the house because of the many people our mother supported. I am the first born and to be honest, I sometimes feel like I have not accepted that she is no more

Hi thank you for your honestly and vulnerability. You are so easy to relate to and I see myself in a lot of this. Especially the way my personality changes and I become so much more socially fluid with alcohol but inside I’m actually shy and reserved even though I love having deep conversations with people. I am 60 now and I decided that I wanted the next decade to look different than the previous ones have, with my habit of drinking alcohol regularly. I didn’t get bad hangovers but my anxiety and depression slowly crept up and overall mental health had slowly declined and I wasn’t understanding the connection to alcohol use until I started educating myself and watching videos on KZbin. I’m two months off of it and I don’t yet feel completely amazing but I’m in for the long haul and I will be patient. I love hearing other stories and it helps me stay the course. Thank you.

Zippy, from your story, your mother was a beautiful person in and out, and tried to love her life according to Christ’s teaching. May the good Lord rest her soul in peace and grant her family that peace too.
