The world is so big, and we close ourselves in our corner, with our problems, in our life. We miss the opportunity to live free, to know new places. Greetings from São Paulo - Brazil

The last time I visited Ameland was 1957 as a teenager living in Hilversum. I could not believe my eyes when I saw the huge amount of visitors there (Hollum). All I remember was a quiet little town, the old houses from the 17th century, the whale bone fence posts, vuurtoren but not the windmill they built recently. They should not have done that. It was never there, not part of Ameland and useless since there was never any water to pump out or grain to grind. Oh well I still have many memories of the place, camping in the dunes, my friends and especially girlfriends. Sugar Land, Texas

@Henry: Thanks for your comment! I visited the island for the first time as a kid in a summercamp in 1990. Since then I visited Ameland about 10 times. In those 19 years I could see a lot of things changing - but a lot of things are still unchanged. There might be more tourists, more houses, more cars, but the pace is still the slow pace of life on an island. I love to come back there - next time will be in 2 weeks. For me it brings back so many memories and it still feels surreal to visit the playground where I used to play as a kid with my son now :-)

Hi. That's the "Morn Blanc Trail". It starts from the Sans Soucis Rd right above the tea factory. Look for the sign that's shown at 1:18 in the video. The trail is easy to follow as three are no diversions. Bring enough water 😁 maps.app.goo.gl/Qeetw
