Lovely piece. How have you finished the edges? It doesn't look like a normal hemstitch.
@MyrtleAndRobin5 күн бұрын
@@susanwheeler9624 Thank you ❤️! I don't think the finishing has any particular name, but I could be wrong. When I was first teaching myself to weave I had a hard time learning the hemstitch. One time I completely misunderstood how to hemstitch and ended up doing things this way. Personally I love how it looks and still use it as a finishing sometimes. I think I just invert a typical hemstitch and add an extra wrap around the bundle horizontally. Maybe I can make a video in the future showing how I do this finishing if people would like to see it.

Lol. I enjoyed the description of your thought process in the morning. I'm not the only one!😊 When I'm asked about my weaving, "why do you do all that pidily stuff? It would drive me crazy!" My answer is, because I enjoy it. It's all about the process. 😊

from Gerry- My mother taught me to knit when I was 10. That began the creative journey. I am 77 now and I sew, quilt, knit, spin, weave, dye and all that these things bring me joy. We are made in the image of God. God is the creator and embracing the creative process reflects a small portion of who He is. Enjoy the way you were made. Nothing is more satisfying. Thanks so much for sharing and I will look forward to more from your channel. God bless.

@@peterivkovich2314 I am glad to meet another textile person! I think one of the beautiful things about hand crafts is the history and connection passed from down. My mother and sister taught me crochet when I was 5 and it is something I still bond with them on.
