Wow, really rich, dude. Really rich. Coaching under Atherton was the absolute worst thing ever. Him and everyone brought in to coach are incompetent and out of touch with the mere concept of football. No wonder his whole tenure was 11-22-0. Meanwhile, both Leonardtown and Great Mills have gone on and done exponentially better, even after all the talking down, arrogance, condescending, and disrespect he and the coaching staff showed both schools. His scheming and playbook are almost all the same with no real strategy other than, run left, run right, pass into triple coverage, and then punt. He constantly encouraged players to say the most hateful and spiteful things to players who he thinks are inadequate for his ideal team. Always playing the same players and gassing his starters and setting his team up for failure when the starters become inevitably tired. The worst part is no one did a thing to fix it. What are the other coaches up to? Their own personal and equally disgusting agenda and narrative, turning players against each other in very vulnerable and key moments during practice. Learning and implementing new plays? Nope, 1 on 1s with players having beef and then making the whole team run, really good idea for teaching discipline. Since no one else wants to say this, I will. Stay out of football forever, and thank you Duane, thank you creating an absolutely miserable environment to play in. You’re a disgrace to Chopticon and what this school stood for.
