Excellent advice & guidance, particularly familiarizing yourself to the dive site and landmarks in the daytime.

Good job! A thought: I think your discussion would be a bit better if you had some close shots of the boltsnap and line to illustrate the details up close.

Quick tip: don't rent an old torch with a half full battery, I would recommend you buy your own. Here is the one used in the video: scubadivinggear.uk/products/ammonite-led-stingray?_pos=1&_psq=stingray&_ss=e&_v=1.0

Aren't u supposed to get a manifold with two first stages for a DIR setup? Even for a single tank
@nielsrad3 ай бұрын
What would you like to isolate on a single tank with a manifold? You can have double cranes on a single tank however for DIR is one crane is enough. Cold water diving could make you get a second crane or just go for doubles.
@provuksmc66193 ай бұрын
@@nielsrad i meant cranes. So two first stages on one tank

Hi buddy, you can not have a manifold on a single cylinder, you could use an H valve or something along those lines. We prefer to teach divers to use a stage or bailout cylinder if they are going to depths over 30m, and good buddy techniques for shallower dives. If the need for redundancy increases we transfer them to twinset or sidemount setup.
@scubadivinggear3 ай бұрын
@@provuksmc6619 ah, double valves you mean, yes that only works with an H valve or similar setups which are not common use in the UK at all. Having double valves doesn't make it DIR if that is what you are asking. It's merely a solution used in various European countries for cold/deep water single tank diving, in the UK a redundant cylinder is favoured for deeper dives as it gives true redundancy.

@@scubadivinggear i thought itd be DIR since GUE teaches like that and they stick to DIR very strictly.

I've never seen a black SMB, usually orange or green.
@capti44315 күн бұрын
Or yellow. …. In my experience, orange is “diver below,” and yellow is reserved for “emergency / need assistance.” But I have seen a spectrum of colors in recreational diving: green, yellow, orange, hot pink, red, etc…. I have seen a couple of good videos that present the pros and cons of different DSMB colors and their visibility in different conditions.

@@capti443 yes, i've seen other colours too. I don't know where a black smb would be useful?

What, if any are the risks in performing this process more regularly (say, 5 times a year), and also to put the backmount twinset back together again?
@scubadivinggear Жыл бұрын
If done correctly there shouldn't be a risk. However the thread on the isolator manifold is very fine and easy to cross thread, so damage to that thread could be considered a risk every time the twin-set is assembled.

Good job, that's how it should be done. There's only one label on my cylinders and it's the MOD, nothing else. I've seen cylinders with mix and MOD right next to each other... soo confusing! Accident waiting to happen.
