My mom said this was so scary. She never went on a coaster like it again. I on the other hand love every one.

I remember when it was relatively new and they ran 2 trains at the same time at right angles to each other and they entered the loops at the same time.

I recall being so afraid when I went on this first time at about 9 years old! I got glued to the back of the seat in an awkward position and was glued there from g-forces! LOL

As a kid my grandfather took me to Great Adventure every summer drone the late 80’s to early 90’s. I would always see this but was too little to get on it until the summer of 91. Sadly I didn’t take advantage of my opportunity to ride it that year and by the following year it was gone.

This is definitely Great Adventure. Those are the Parachutes and the Scream Machine in the background. If you were a ride operator in this section, you would be cross trained to work as an operator for the Joust A Bout, the Parachutes and the Scream Machine. Working Parachutes was the worst bc you were in the direct sun and you had to secure each set of riders in place each time they went up and also operate the control. Joust about was cool bc it was in the shade. And Scream machine was the premium spot to be assigned. You had to be 18 to operate it, but us kids who were assigned to scream machine had to run down the line and check the restraints before the rollercoaster would be sent off. Good times.

Thanks for posting this. I used to be a rider operator for this ride in the mid 90’s. Good times.

I remember riding this as a kid. It did the loop forward and then did it again in reverse.
@sambugos42373 жыл бұрын
It only does that one loop and that’s it? Really boring, I kno it’s a childhood memory, but it had to go down, it doesn’t compare to what’s there today...

Yeah definitely not up to Great Adventure's standard but the bottom loop did find a good home at a smaller park, Frontier City.

One loop forward and then it shot you back to where you started. I rode it once. It was a fast, tight loop. It felt more like a summersault than a loop. I like sooper dooper looper at Hershey. That's a loop. This was more violent. And starting down the hill from either end was rough on your shoulders from the bars.
@j.l.starling89342 жыл бұрын
@@ricksorber9562 I just watched the pov front row of sooperdooperlooper and it looks waaayyyy more enjoyable. Thanks for the reply!

Blackpool Pleasure Beach still has one of these and it's the second best ride in the park imo after their new Mack launch Icon. Revolution it's called. It's more forceful than their Arrow Hyper Big One

@williemakeit2346 Жыл бұрын
The woman fell out of the train a good 5 years before they took Lightning Loops down. It just wasn’t a popular attraction anymore so they moved on to bigger and better.
