Very cool. New subscriber here. I live in Jefferson County and do a lot of relic hunting. The larger shells are oyster. They might be from Native Americans but they were being brought up packed in barrels on the Mississippi from New Orleans early in the state’s history. In fact in St. Louis in the 1840s there were fancy oyster bars. You probably have coins and other relics on your property.
@The_Warrior5262 ай бұрын
Hey thanks for the input. Coins would be nice to find. Lol. I have ran a metal detector down the wet weather creek beds on that side of the property but only found scrap and trash unfortunately. Of course I haven't been over every square foot of it yet. I also doubt that I found every shell either.

My buddy had one back in the mid 70's. We'd save our allowance money and buy ammo for it and then shoot it all in one day. Great times. We used to walk in the woods behind his trailer park and shoot and well, anything really. These days the cops would be called and we'd get hauled off to jail.

Very enjoyable video and nice mix of ammo. I own two Marlin rifles; a (wood stocked) Papoose and Glenfield 20 bolt gun with that dopey looking Gopher stamped stock. Both shoot swell due to that Marlin micro-groove barrel. I did get to shoot a model 60 some years back. Yours looks to be an eighteen rounder. Newer model 60's have been lawyer proofed with less mag capacity. The model 60 that I shot was impressively accurate with iron sights. A good cheap scope for this gun would be a BSA S4X32WR. That's what I have on my model 20 and it's a perfect match. That Monte Carlo stock helps when using optics.

Bought one at a gun show about 5 years ago. It was filthy inside. I cleaned it up, but didn’t fire it until yesterday. When I cleaned it, I forgot to remove and clean the firing pin. When I loaded a round on my way out the shop door, it fired. Scared me pretty good. Lucky I had it pointed up, so all I got was a.22 hole in my shop’s roof. Lucky it didn’t continue to slam fire until empty. The lesson? Never chamber a round unless you are ready to shoot, and always check the firing pin. NEVER get too complacent with firearms!

@@akatripclaymore.9679 I had a few failures to fire from the Glen so I just ended up getting a new firing pin for it. The new model pin is a little thinner and, I'm guessing, less likely to slow down due to friction against the bolt. I figured it couldn't hurt. lol.

My Dad RIP tried to talk me into buying a Marlin Bolt Action with a 7 rd mag. That is what he bought when I got my Glenfield, he said oh you will be sorry' I've never owned a semi auto that didn't jam. Later when we went plinking that gun made him a believer! Don't get me wrong his bolt action was accurate as heck but he told everyone he knew about my "Glenfield".😄 I have a buddy that took a few deer with his. And instead of a .410 I used mine for Grouse! Out of a Covey of 6 I could usually get one or 2 with headshot's. The Marlin 336 in 30/30 is another favorite of mine..alway's preferred it over the Winchester mod "94". If the SHTF I guess I will have to have an extra firing pin for my mod 60, thanks for the head's up! I once made a firing pin for a 03 Colt .32 auto out of a drill bit, a grinder & a whetstone is all I used!😊 The hardest part was installing it and removing it about 1000 time's pieced a few primers, but finally got it down & rounded enough, it shot fine until I sold it about 5 year's later.....👉💥😶💨 should have kept that pistol!

$80. at Kmart in 1973? In 1978 I bought one at Kmart for $36. not on sale. The reason I remember the price so well is that it was between a single shot shotgun for $34. or the Marlin for $36.
