Very good summary of the early history of BBQ in America, and respectful of its indigenous Caribbean root called "buccan" or "Boucané". Which is cooking and smoking meat over green allspice wood & leaves to both flavor and conserve it. in English it's called Jerk but it's names of origin is still used in the French Caribbean. "Boucané" to refer to the cooking method, while "Buccan" is used to describe burning garden waste.

USAA sucks. Back in 1994 I spent 1 hour on the phone to get a quote for auto insurance. At the end of the call. They asked my rank. I was enlisted. They were snobby and said. “ We only accept officers”. Years later they realized the number of enlisted and went for the money…

I am so sorry to hear this although I have been a member for over 25yrs and notice something has changed with USAA , In the recent year I had problem with a refund check in the Auto Insurance department . They sent me a check of $150 I deposited it in another bank to find out that the check was not honored and left my account with a negative balance and took me numerous days to even get an answer I requested to talk to the Supervisor and she didn’t help . I found out that they had sent out two checks error on their end and did not honor the other check , unbelievable . They gave me a $20 credit toward my insurance bill but I was out of money that they refuse to honor their error . Like these people I paid the negative balance so that it don’t affect my credit however, USAA did not make it right. I am glad I saw this

The sad part is, this action cost her, her very soul. And now she’s down below, burning for the rest of eternity, And I can’t even figure in asking her, “was it really even worth it ?” This was PURE SELFISH EVIL on her part… her son is in heaven with God and the husband will most likely see his son eventually too when he passes, but because of her selfish act, she’s down below burning 🔥 not only that, her punishment down below is reliving the moment and the pain that her and her son experienced and whether she knows it or not, that pain is gonna be magnified by 1000 and then some… now she’s gonna have to deal with that for the rest of eternity .. What a WASTE of life.. and I’m guessing this is one of the MANY reasons why the husband left her because she was selfish and evil and vindictive and I wouldn’t put up with that kind of stuff either - NOBODY SHOULD .. it’s like a form of abuse

What is going on with USAA? As a 24 year member I would also like to know because this is disturbing. I have already had two claims denied from homeowners policy and had to pay all the pocket for my roof and damage to my home because of drain pipe leak under my home. I also feel like USAA is not taking care of its members the way it used to by wiggling out of taking care of members by the wording in their policy. I’m not sure if it’s the CEO or whoever is in charge, but why is so much negative stuff popping up? If I continue to hear more negative stuff about USAA I’m considering pulling all of my stuff out and going to local credit unions and other insurance agencies for business.

Exactly! My grandparents were so frugal but they had a TON of money on both sides. I remember my grandfather telling me "you want to make money while you sleep." And I guess that attitude passed down to my dad (RIP), because I remember going to his house one day and I had bought something I really liked, so I wanted to show it to him. So I said "Look at this! Isn't it cute? It was on sale...I saved 50%!" My dad replied "Well, if you're spending, you're not saving." Obviously I had no retort, and that has always stuck with me.

Saving and investing wisely while prioritizing necessities and a few small luxuries in relation to one's total assets is a great approach. It helps ensure financial stability and I my for the enjoyment of life's little pleasures without compromising long-term financial goals. It's all about finding a balance that works for you!

I have been with USAA since 1991. I have noticed a decline in service quality in recent years. Luckily, I’ve had no issues with banking but, one insurance adjuster was talking to me from his home and I could hear a child crying and a dog barking in the background. Needless to say that claim took a month to resolve. Another employee didn’t feel like working and told me she’d mail me the forms to fill out. When I said I’ve never had that done before, she was then able to help and complete the transaction in ten minutes on the phone.

Folks never leave your cash a large amount in a checking account put it in a savings account that doesn’t have overdraft protection to the checking account that way if they do drain your checking your savings is spared have notifications lock all cards you are not using at the moment as well through your phone app hope this helps and never store all your cash in one spot!

Lol, poor people are so quick to blame a bank for not taking care of their money, when they're the ones that hand out passwords and 2FA like if it's candy lol. Like, why do poor people demand the banks do more for them than they're willing to do for themselves? Y'all are careless with your private info but expect the bank to hold your hand for every little detail. It's obvious that generations of adult-children have been raised to need a perpetual parent figure in their lives. You don't have mommy and daddy taking care of you anymore so now you demand it from government, businesses, and landlords lol.

Though one may not be targeted, one should still be alert to what's happening with their account. Most criminals will just take a small amount, just to see if people are paying attention to their accounts. If they took something small from the account and the person didn't do anything, they will be back to take a greater amount. I had someone charge to my account, 10.00 dollars for a program I used about 10 years ago.
