My parents aren't really paying for a lot of my stuff. They're helping me out here and there. Its not like I can run to mom and dad for money. I'm on unemployment and food stamps at the moment and I'm doing okay. Not great.. but getting by.

Regarding Facebook: for totally different reasons, I recently temporarily deactivated my Facebook account, with the intent that I will occasionally log back in to check things and keep old photos etc. on there, but most likely have my account deactivated most of the time for privacy reasons. Not sure if this is relevant to your situation, but if your concern is wanting to hold on to memories/old photos etc., you could consider something similar. As for the long explanation thing: I don't think you owe anyone a justification for who you are or the timing of when you realized that you you are trans. However, if you want to share that with people and think a long facebook post would simplify things for you or be cathartic to write, then by all means write something.

I know what you mean about the dad who doesn't really comment on things. As for being out on Facebook, did that feel like a big deal to you? I ask b/c listing myself as bi (and also way before that not listing myself as straight) felt like a big deal not b/c people would notice but because it was a few hundred people to whom that information is available if they want to find it.

It definitely felt like a big deal to me because it was the first time they were hearing about it. Plus, with a name, thats huge. I know that when i changed my sexuality i felt the same as you. Like its there but not really in ppls faces in a way. Eventually i just didn't care. With changing my name, my mom almost thought it was a prank and someone changed it on me. Other people were telling me that i was disrespecting my parents and that I was faking it. So it was super difficult.

Well it gets kinda mushy for me. Honestly, I use the word queer to describe my sexual orientation because I'm both romantically and sexually attracted to girls but just sexually attracted to guys. So yes? But also no? It's weird. Haha
