Only Brandon could get away with starting a song with the line "A couple of kids got hit by a Union Pacific Train" Plus he's very unique with his sense of melody. In verse two he crams a lot of words together in order to tell the story but he still manages to fit it within the context of the melody by creating an extra bar or two when he needs to. The Killers are pretty unique that way.

There's not much (literal) rhyme or reason to this track or album. It's just The Killers doing what they do. One of the most transcendent bands of this generation and all time.
