What is the youngest (psychologically and therefore practically, rather than legally) age at which a person becomes recruitable. Children make potentially formidable spies for many reasons, not least of which is the lack of expectation among adults whose great (parental) naïveté is to underestimate, not only, child intelligence but also the mental and emotional sophistication of some children. What or who are the best historical precedents, and do governments around the world, including our own U.S. Government, pursue this line of inquiry?

CIA could not on its own, as Mr. Werth seems to suggest (15:06), acknowledge Downey and Fecteau's affiliation. It's a well written book, but it's not a definitive history because of its omissions (e.g. very little about Fecteau, who is at least as interesting as Downey) and some outright errors.

USA days are over, Brits did not imagine that their empire could collapse in a few years. New inexpensive weapons such as drones swarming US warships can sink them easily. A new multi-polar world order is emerging, West vs East.

What is truly amazing about this operation (and many others conducted during WWII) is the ability of people to actually KEEP SECRET the operations on which lives and liberty depended. No "Tell All" biographies. No "Unnamed Sources" that advanced someone's career. ABSOLUTE SILENCE.

This was an extraordinary summary and characterization of the situation and the strategic implications. Norm sort of apologizes for not being more brief, but the talk is not ever redundant and every point was relevant and consequential. I will use it with students for not only its substance but as a briefing model. In short, at the Farm this would earn a “satisfactory.” Thank you and keep ‘em coming.
