Akuma/Gouki, this ending was meant to serve as a bit of a precursor for players who were not yet anticipating the debut of him in Super Turbo later in I994 and for all intents and purposes it did manage to leave a genuine sense of mystery to players who weren't in the loop about his eventual debut. Insult to injury is when you also discover that Super Turbo was originally set to get a release on the Generation IV consoles (Megadrive, Super Famicom, and even Project Mars (Sega Neptune)), the only reason why we didn't get it was due to cost factor and also the amount of time it would've taken to backport certain elements of the CPS II title within the data confines of the time (especially the Megadrive, which was already pushing hard with The New Challengers at 06 Megabytes; any further, such as 08 Megabytes, and Super Turbo probably would've been backported at a major loss to Capcom due to the cost of those larger Memory Modules); the fact that we even managed to get it on the ThreeDO and Dreamcast is a miracle in and of itself, and for those who wanted the true Home Arcade experience this was the only way to get Akuma domestically for a long time (not to mention Super Turbo for Matching Service was the only way to get Shin Akuma with a Super (in this case, Raging Demon) in an Arcade Perfect capacity until Ultra II came out), many wouldn't fully know about his origins in this entry until probably Hyper Street Fighter II's console release and that truly forced a lot of players to play via cabinets so that they didn't have to wait for long to learn the specifics of "The Ancient One" and his true power against the competition.
