Hello gentlemen. I Iike your show largely due to your quirky sense of humor. There is a gag in YOLT that you didn't comment on that I find quite hilarious. It's the scene where Helga Brandt has captured Bond and has him tied up. She's tells her men to leave the room and turns to Bond and says I've got you now. Bond responds to her by saying well enjoy yourself. She slaps him right after that. But Connery's dry yet arrogant delivery of that line is what made him the coolest 007. Whatever situation he is in (for the most part) he acts like he doesn't give a F. And does so with conviction. Other actors don't seem to convey that type of confidence as genuinely as Connery did.

Thanks for watching and getting in touch. As a first-timer to all these movies, I’m not yet qualified to comment on the best Bond. Connery set the bar bloody high though for sure. Tom.

Brilliant, 😂 learnt and laughed so much. You guys have such a good time making these, its very aparent. Disappointed that Tom didn't take up my hair tutorial offer, the plaits would have stayed in but he redeemed himself when he pointed out the likeness of Michael Lonsdale to Peter Dinklage. Loved that my favourite voiced actor James Mason got a mention. Mrs Wallis, your eldest fan has of course forgiven James although I had to warn her of his use of profanities later on (that's going to take Brownie points off!). Looking forward to FYEO ❤

Bob from Blockbusters??? Moonraker is the film that made me a Bond fan, it's so fantastical, I love it.. A teenage girl's perspective: Moonraker was the first Bond film I saw at the cinema. Holly was so exciting, a scientist who's not afraid to fight. She was my favourite Bond girl for quite a long while. As a grown up: The Bentley is a thing of beauty, although, not quite as pretty as Tom at 12.49! 😉 The scene you put up at 52.02 was/is incredible, I'd happily have that as a poster. Great suggestion from my fellow viewer to have Tom's summary near the top of the show. A fab episode. Isn't it funny how as kids we accept the films we see but as adults, we question things like, who is Drax ordering a henchman from? 😂🤣😂 Careful Luxury Tedium, you're fast becoming my favourite podcast.

Well done again on another great review. Missed the “Dooshes”again though. Tom, who did your Dolly plaits, I think they need a shout out, if you did them yourself, seriously impressed. I loved Moonraker when it came out, I think I was at the right age. Another Roger boat chase, that’s 3 in 4 movies. classic formula for Bond with a big villain base, a big explosive ending, and a world domination theme. It was also the first Bond where I started to recognise all the product placement, 7-Up,Seiko watches, Marlboro cigarettes and British Airways, those marketing bods, I wanted a Seiko watch that Christmas, damn those marketing people and their world domination.

Prepare to be impressed. I did my own hair. The left side was barely staying together (it’s not a style I usually adopt) but the bows did their job. I had made some notes about the product placement but it didn’t make the cut. In hindsight, I could’ve got a couple of cans of 7-Up for a visual gag. I’m sure there will be similar occurrences to take advantage of in future. Cheers for getting in touch again. All the best.

"Mumwrecker"? You beast. Three possibly ways to break tie. One is to re-score to a higher precision- one decimal place should be sufficient. The second is to consider temporal efficiency- that Moonraker took 126 minutes to rack up the points, whereas Live And Let Die achieved it five minutes faster. Finally, financial efficiency. Moonraker spends an inordinate $189.9k per point, comparing abyssmally to Live And Let Die's frugal $39.1k.
@LuxuryTedium

I will discuss with James. I love the logic that Live and Let Die should lead because, being a slightly shorter film, it earned its points faster.

Thanks lads, great review, I’m going to say it, I think it’s your best, or should I say “it’s the biggest, it’s the best, it’s bond,and beyond” love those bond marketing boys. Love threads watch, a smorgasbord in the Moore era, safari jackets are due a come back, it’s gonna happen you know. I saw The Spy Who Loved Me at the Classic Cinema in Blackburn, smuggled in my cassette recorder and recorded it with all the audience reaction on C120 tape (had to flip the tape half way) Rogers best Bond, although i started to think he was looking old, well he did to a 14 year old. That pre title sequence, and the audience reaction was truly amazing when the parachute opened, I still remember it, as it was a time when such things were a genuine surprise pre social media leaks. Music was super cool. I love this movie, it was Roger’s favourite of his bond movies too.

🎶 Glang, glangalangalangalangalangalang, glangalang. Nobody does it better, opening score, disco-esque. Nobody does it, quite the way they do. John and Marvin are the best. A nuclear submarine, stolen by Stromberg, whose henchman has metal tee-ee-ee-eeth. But 007, and Agent Triple X, beat him with the galloping sauseeege. Glangalang. Nobody does it better, makes me feel sad for podcasts. James's Bond knowledge, and Tom's music treats. Innuendos and the gags. 🎶

One of the least exciting Bond films with the worst Bond song and an annoying Bond girl, Goodnight used to make me laugh but now I find myself rolling my eyes at her... Positives for me are the 70s scenery, particularly Scaramanga's place, very stylish. The Hornet is a nice classic car aesthetically and yes, it's involved in the best stunt. The absolute best thing about this film for me is the exquisite Christopher Lee, so handsome with that golden voice of his. (see what I did there? 😉) And yes, he did say Lord Summerisle was the best part he'd ever played but he also said the most important film he'd ever been in was Jinnah, a biographical film about the founder of Pakistan. He played the title role, and yes, he's great in it, even looks like the real Jinnah. Just a bit of trivia to add. 😊

Great episode again. Here's hoping the copyright ninjas leave you alone this time! As for the movie, this one sits near the bottom for me. Not the worst Bond film but definitely in the "I don't really like this movie" tier. It's just so mean and tacky. Thankfully they finally got the Moore era tone right in the next one. In regards to the slide whistle travesty, I recall hearing that the reason it was put in there was because the stunt is so impressive and seemingly impossible that they feared people wouldn't believe it was a real stunt (i.e. some special effects or film manipulation occurred) and it would come off as corny, rather than impressive, so they decided to play it comically, in order to play it safe. If true, that was a bad mistake. I am not normally a fan of changing old movies (looking at you, George Lucas) but I think I would happily support them changing this one to remove the slide whistle.

Well done, Missed the dooshes, it was a highlight Most disappointing of Roger’s Bonds, one of my least favourite films, always found it a bit dull, I also don’t think it has aged well. Came out in 74 a year after Live & Let Die, felt rushed, and perhaps it shows. Another boat chase for Roger, moore to come. Slide whistle on the car loop was awful. Been to James Bond island which was a real treat although it was packed with tourists. Does Dr No need a remark???

🎶 you know did, you know you did, you know you d id 🎶 Yep, you did it again, great episode, absolutely love this one, definitely in my top 5. Roger Moore is ♡. As a lover of all things 70s, I've always wanted a kitchen and coffee maker exactly like Bond's in this film. I agree with Tom, I'm loving the trivia that James provides although at this point, I'm not sure what's more extraordinary, James's Bond knowledge or his fruit & veg related double entendres. 😂 Tom's plot summary is becoming another favourite, as well as his editing, strategically placing the Baron's evil laugh (would make a great ringtone). The male characters are great, Baron Samedi, Tee Hee and Sheriff Pepper, shame about the female characters. Yaphet Kotto looks like he's loving his role, he's just brilliant. The speedboat chase is one of my favourites. Highlights of your episode for me are: 'sonic pulse head knackerer', Teresa May's speech comment and The Galloping Sausage. 😂 ps I'm a little disappointed that my fellow viewers didn't provide me with enough material to create nicknames for you both this week, will keep trying. pps apologies for the essay type comment, I just love this film. xx

I enjoyed your thoughts on DAF. I saw it at the cinema when I was 10. I went with my cousin and we got in for free as the manager lived next door to my cousin. We enjoyed it so much that we stayed and watched it a second time. A couple of moments you didn't mention...the elephant playing the slot machine and the girl transforming into a gorilla. Kidd and Wint are great, with Mr Kidd particularly unsettling imo. I still have a soft spot for the film, though I understand it isn't too well thought of today. Tiffany would have been a better character if she had kept her sass. Agree completely that the cremation scene was quite scary for kids.

DAF was the first James Bond film I saw at the cinema when it first came out in 1972 in the U.K., the others before that I saw in various double bills that did the rounds. DAF has always had a place in my heart watching it as a 9 year old, it is funny, fun, brash, exciting stunts, I had the corgi moon buggy as kid, bought it again as an adult. Love this film. Dear Willy Wakeman and Cool J, I actually didn't remember this film. I wondered if it was because I adore the theme song so much. Cool J is right, it is a classic but it also happens to be my favourite Bond song. I love everything about it, the composition, the strings, wonderfully delivered by our Shirl. After watching it last night, I realised I may not have remembered it because it's just not very good. 😂 It may be more fitting for the Austin Powers franchise than Bond. But there are highlights, all of which you've talked about apart from that gorgeous Triumph Bond drives in Dover. Have to say that I laughed more watching your review than I did watching the film last night. Side note: I've already said that I'm a Bond and SCI-FI fan however, my first love is music. OPP by Naughty by Nature being mentioned in your show, brought my funk filled heart so much joy. "ARM ME WITH HARMONY". ONP. ♡

And like Wakeman, he has a curry brought in during half time. If you gave over 25 episodes to Flash Gordon, you could focus on each 4 minutes, 33 seconds and 14 frames at a time, for some really in-depth analysis. So we get Wig Watch on the last applicable episode? Just like Charles Gray, it would be fitting to recycle it for the Moore era- Wood Watch -for his more, how can we say...lumber moments of acting. Connery is in his awkward phase here, because he definitely gets hotter again once he goes snow white.
