1983 was a much different time. There were the three commercial networks, PBS, CNN, and the five radio networks: CBS, NBC, ABC, Mutual and RKO. Today's networks would come on fast and stay on until the end. This is pretty close to what might happen, because there will be some warning in Europe or here before any launch. Satellites that didn't exist then will be able to detect movements before attacks. But missiles are faster now and warheads far more powerful than those 40 years ago. EAS, successor to EBS, is still much the same If it were to happen now, right now, best to shelter in place and wait. If you're lucky, you'll be vaporized, because you probably won't want to stick around for what's next.

At 67, I remember the Cuban Missile Crisis. We damn near didn't get through that. The theory of Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) was the primary reason it didn't happen. With the vast improvements in weapons and delivery systems over 60 years, I think I'd rather stay topside and be vaporized, rather than face the likelihood of nuclear fallout, nuclear winter and starvation (even SPAM won't last that long).

The first part of this clip is apparently an AI-modified excerpt of a speech by President Ronald Reagan. The latter part of this video is an old recording of WNBC 4 finally shutting down its analog nightlight service in June, 2009.

Good video but the premise for these types of videos is and was an impossibility. No conventional force could ever mass enough troops for an assault like this and catch anyone by surprise. But the other stuff is interesting.

Don't know about the song, but from what I've gathered from translatable Russian comments in this section, it appears to be from a Russian children's TV series called Good Night, Kids, which is apparently still broadcast on Russian television to this day.
