I was a Pale Fountains fan club member back in 1982, I think it was pretty short-lived club though. There was an Albert Einstein T-shirt available to fans to celebrate the release of Palm Of My Hand.

Can you tell me about the lives of the band members? I discovered it recently, and it's certainly one of the best I've ever seen. I was born after almost 25 years of its release, so it's kind of new to me. I'll look online to see if there's anything about them. Thanks!
@rooie163 ай бұрын
@jqhshw7jqhs I can't remember much about them, other than they came from Liverpool and the fan club was organised by a lady called Pam. They signed to Virgin Records in 1982 for £50,000 if I remember correctly. I believe they have a large following in Japan. I think you will find much more information about them online.

Micheal was into Arthur Lee and got a lot of inspiration from him. He and his brother John had a band called Shack and they toured with Arthur in 92 and they had his back big time.

I remember I bought this beautiful song purely on the back of a review in the nme at the time were the journalist described ‘something like you’ as ‘the sound of the stone roses jamming with nick drake’ . Soon as I got it home I played it and played it none stop !! I loved how beautiful the lyrics are and how the song has this magical atmosphere that the band appeared to whip up and hold on to while the great Micheal Head sings so beautifully in his scouser accent . The spell is never broken . Then of of course ‘Wellcome to the magical world of the strands’ came out and I’ve been a confirmed Micheal Head fan ever since soaking up the pale fountains , shack , the red elastic band and his fucking incredible solo albums . I love everything he’s ever made but ‘welcome to the magical world of the strands’ will always be my favourite. It has the same effect on me as Astral Week does. I know I’ll get shot down in flames for saying that but I don’t give a fuck . It’s a beautiful song from an equally beautiful album and artist and the fact that it was made and is around in my life time is definitely a reason to be cheerful and feel blessed …. Great post . Thank you for this !!! I’m eternally grateful !! Peace out and safe landings X

Oh how I loved the PF from the moment I first heard Palm of My Hand. Bought the 12” new in the shop, spring 1983. The flip side has the brilliant Love’s a Beautiful Place, which was always the “seduction” track I put on homemade cassettes for my latest crush. They should have been MASSIVE.
