Hopefully you haven’t had any issues with the catch can. I have heard horror stories about them CAUSING major engine damage due to them filling up, people not realizing, then it backing up into the engine. I was talking to a couple of the experts, and they said that there wasn’t much if any actual gains from one, but more likely to cause problems than anything. Strangely on my truck all of the exact same parts, front to back all fell off as well. I guess Nissan used faulty fasteners or something🤷🏻‍♂️. Luckily I was able to find lighter weight replacements. I personally decided to heed the advice I was given and it hasn’t caused any issues. I was told that it’s just an optional part that can dress up the engine bay. One that is known to CAUSE issues(no thanks)

Teo years later, any update on performance, mpg, and reliability? I have a stock 2016 Titan diesel, and id love to make it run better and more efficiently if it doesnt cost reliability

Did you know there is a difference between the 2016 and 2018 motors? Did you get an updated 2018 motor to go back in it? I deleted mine in 3 hrs and it runs great. I also run archoil additive to keep it all clean. Hate to see all the problems you have had with yours.

Maybe you can try and get ahold of the guys at CFT they are very knowledgeable in the 5.0 Cummins platform I believe they are one of the few who makes turbo kits for them and such. I think they go by Lazer Lab creations now but once known as CFT see if maybe you can get in touch with them and get something rolling if that doesn’t work out. It’s crazy how difficult it is to even get a vehicle running these days. I wanted to get a 5.0 Cummins really badly but after seeing all the trouble and such I’m going with a newer power stroke or Duramax wanting to try something different as I’ve owned many different 6.7 Cummins. Hope you get it worked out man!

I own a smog and repair shop. We refuse work on anything not smog legal due to tampering. The way California law is written, it is just in my family’s best interest to not allow it in the shop.

Good luck finding a private shop to do anything with it either the epa does random drop ins and if you have a deleted truck or even the parts for it…… they will shut that shop down so fast and then fine them into oblivion

That’s a BS excuse. I work for a CDJR dealer and I work as a RAM tech. I work on deleted trucks, lifted trucks and sometimes race trucks. It being deleted has no effect on a repair unless the repair is tied with it being modified. Meaning I cannot flash the PCM or anything like if a transmission is replaced I cannot flash it since it’ll revert to stock. 68RFE’s you don’t have to flash but an AISIN you have to.

Man, i love to see all the negative comments regarding these trucks here on the tube of you lol! It appears that all the professionals on here think or assume, each one of these trucks, regardless of year, are exactly the same truck and will inevitability have the same issues sooner than later just because... They're are, has been and will always be good, bad and unfortunate experiences with any vehicle. Almost no one asks questions or take into consideration how a vehicle was drove, worked, treated, maintenanced, etc. Take performance upgrades for example. Usually when an individual takes heavy interest and invests in performance upgrades, its for one reason souly which usually leads to abuse which leads to failure completely or faster wear and tear which is unnecessary treatment with most issues being very preventable. Everyone thinks the titan but especially the 5.0 was discontinued because of such issues. Every brand has their own out the gate issues when they first hit the market until everything is worked out. The titan 5.0 failed because of the big 3 competition and the people who favorded them. The majority of people simply didnt give the truck a chance even fleets because of their dedication to the big 3. No one that mattered ever got to experience how capable and hard working these trucks can be. Ive owned my 2016 titan xd 5.0 since new. Its 2024 now and i am just now having issues with my swingvalve actuator so 8 years later and 93,000 miles, id say it deserves one or 2 things to start failing! Do i agree with the design of these engines? For the majority but not entirely so its far from perfect but after owning several gas and diesel rams, chevys and fords, personally or fleet related, they will all give you issues minor and major eventually but thats probably irrelevant to the argument im sure. People can knock these trucks and nissan all they want, yall have your opinions, but nissan above all does have the absolute best warranty which means they have and will stand by and honor their products more than most ESP the big 3! Nissan failed and even neglected to update these trucks for years inside and out when competing with other brands which too hurt these trucks. Personally, i dont care about the bells and whistles but alot of people do, especially these days with technology. So having said that, i will keep my titan xd 5.0 for another 8 years if allowed by the truck. My neighbor has owned his xd 5.0 for 6 years now, reg cab long base, uses it everyday to haul equipment and dumpster trailers. He too loves his truck and has never had anything major fail on him and he absolutely loves the truck. Just because some of you hate and would never own one of these doesnt mean everyone should take your advice and agree 💯. Kinda mimicks when i have heard so many knock harley davidson for being unreliable lol... my family for over 40 years have owned nothing but harley davidsons and each one have served its purpose very reliably.
