Interesting thank you. Looking forward to the courses on Chi Force. Any other books you'd recommend other than Taste of Tai chi?
@chiforcetaichi23 күн бұрын
I'm not sure what you are referring to by, "Taste of Tai Chi." Hon Lee has an autobiography called, "Paths Less Travelled of a Scholar Warrior (Spy) Teacher Healer." For Chen Taijiquan, we recommend, "Chen Style Taijiquan: The Source of Taiji Boxing," and for rock star Lou Reed's journey with Tai Chi, we have, "The Art of the Straight Line: My Tai Chi."

@chiforcetaichi Thank you. I think Stephan had mentioned the Taste of tai chi book by Bo sim mark. I will look at the other one. I have listened to the Lou Reed audiobook.

hands a little bellow the collar bone correct? i have been getting conflicting advice on the arms height
@chiforcetaichiАй бұрын
Generally for beginners, hands are in front of the dan tian (3 fingers below the belly button). Once a person can comfortably hold that position for 5-10 minutes, the arms are raised to chest height, not above the collarbone, with the shoulders and elbows relaxed.

Great points! I noticed his knees are going past the toes, is this ok? I've heard conflicting advice with regards to whether it's ok for the knees to go past the toes or not in zhan zhuang.
@chiforcetaichi Жыл бұрын
While yes, knees should not go past the toes, zhang zhuang training is more dynamic than it appears. The freeze-frame used here captures just one moment. The body, including legs, can move in small ways, giving the practice signals to keep alignment intact.

It is commonly practiced by many as a form of qigong, or health exercises. Some practice it in its martial form. Both meet a particular need, and I support both.

@chiforcetaichi Жыл бұрын
About shoulder width. Your weight should be towards your heels, but not to the point of your toes lifting. Both sides of your feet are down; toes are relaxed. Then sit back like you're sitting on a chair, and see if you have any discomfort in your knees or ankles. Adjust if you do.

Silk Reeling increases joint mobility and flexibility with smooth, interconnected movements. In so doing, the joints become more lubricated, refreshing the body with “Internal” energy and alertness. This particular exercise releases that energy in the hands, arms, and shoulders.
