I just came back from Albuquerque from my 28th Babymetal show. My first was November 2014. Me and 2 friends drove 24 hours straight from Texas to New York for a life changing experience. I've followed the band from city to city with a group of friends. I've even gone to Japan 4 times with the same Babymetal friends i met back in 2014. I've made lifelong friends because of Babymetal. Not gonna say much about Scene Queen. My momma said, if you can't say nothing nice, don't say anything at all. So..... Although i do have to say i thought it was extremely inappropriate for children's ears. But hey🤷♂️, whatever. Babymetal needs to pick better opening bands. As for playing on time, WELCOME to Japanese proficiency. BABYMETAL DEATH. Too bad you weren't around when the original trio used to open with that song with their silhouettes behind a white curtain that would drop as soon the march beat was over. As for songs you'll never hear played live again, you're not alone. Especially for us OG fans who have experienced the Yui era. It's a totally different BABYMETAL, you have no idea. We used to get 14 songs back in the day. The whole first album! But as they get older, i think it's just too stressful to do long shows like when they were kids. An hour is short but very fulfilling. ... Who am i kidding? THAT'S WHY WE GO TO MULTIPLE SHOWS! HELL, WE FOLLOW THEM FROM CITY TO CITY! THROUGH PAIN AND DISCOMFORT WE ENDURE ! WE LOSE SLEEP AND GO HUNGRY FOR BABYMETAL!!🤣🤣🤣.... not a cult. I'm getting too old for this shit... I'm 59.... I'm tired.... But IT'S SO ADDICTING!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah, and F! Trump! You really need to join our Texas group tho. We go and support ALL the Japanese bands that come to Texas and the States. Band-Maid, Nemophila, Lovebites, Hanabie, Passcode. Even looking forward to seeing Korean band Rolling Quartz in May here in SA. Another all female metal band. I think you'll fit in just right. Fellow atheist myself😉👍

Best Mom and Dad Ever!!!! I saw them in Madison Wisconsin, and SQ's mix was the same... I was ok with it as Hanna dominated the set and the mix didn't matter. Babymetal's mix was pretty much on point... Being a FOH Tech myself... SU's Voice would be hard to make "thick" If you listen very close, in some parts you will hear a backing track that is in a lower octave... It helps get her voice out. But Su's voice is live 99% of the time. I also was hyped to Hear Momoko's live Voice behind the "Are you Ready" Growl track!!! We had a 12 year old Girl next to us and she screamed most of the show... She came up to me when it was over and apologized for being so excited... I told her she made my show!!! I told the parents that they were awesome for taking her and letting her be herself... That's what Rock shows are all about. Great Video, Thanks for posting and being SUPER DAD!!! your daughter will never forget this. She is a lucky girl to have you guys as parents!!!

Thanks for this video, glad it went well. Glad you had your family day with Babymetal and were able to connect with other fans. Those 2 things are part of what makes Babymetal special in my eyes. I think an other proof how Babymetal fans are happier on average. 14:32 they also place markings, at first I thought that is what you meant ? This is how they position themselves on the stage, they use it as a reference (if they need it, or just at the start of the song). If you read 1 of the interviews with Kobametal he said a lot of the people he worked with in 2020 had to quit the live industry because most people in that industry are self-employed and obviously without any gigs... no gig economy. An prices of capable people and equipment, etc. went through the roof (just check out Tank the Tech talking about touring busses to get some idea). I do honestly think the sound person/people Babymetal now have are have a harder time adapting to the different venues, maybe it's because they play at bigger venues, or they are less experienced, I don't know. But like the Kami band from the West, they made a lot of progress and are now at a very close level to the previous people. The worst mixes I've heard are from the European festivals, no idea why that is. Babymetal has performed at festivals before and they have less of a language barrier now then in the past. In South America they did have 2 shows where they performed both Monochrome and Karate. All I can say from Europe, about the fear: we suffer more often in imagination than in reality - better to fight for the good things and deal with the other things only after they actually happen so you aren't fearful or angry or sad because of things that could happen.

Oddly enough the most amazing thing Ive seen from babymetal wasnt sonisphere in 2014 but Singapore in 2012. There is a documentary about it. You can tell from the beginning of babymetal in 2010 all the girls wanted was to play overseas. In 2012 the were invited to play at the anime festival in Singapore. I cant imagine what it must have felt like to be 12 years old like yui and moa were and being genuine rockstars playing in front of thousands of f heavy metal fans which genre they barely understood at the time (they were idols thats what they knew and loved) in a foriegn country whose language they didnt speak. In any case there is a scene in the documentary right before they were to go on stage and the fear is palpable. This was their first overseas gig. These 12 and 14 year old girls were petrified as you can imagine. What struck me the most is that this was probably the most scary thing any of them had done. I cant stress how scared these girls were. They never even once took a step backwards in fear. Each of them just lived with the fear, they didnt try to mitigate it or trick themselves or complain or behave in a way that was anything less than how a seasoned 30 year old artist would have handled. Scared shitless yeah but we came her to chew gum or be rock stars and we are all out of gum. It was incredibly brave and mature way beyond their years and they went out and killed it. Koba must have kniwn then that there was nothing these kids couldnt do. I think about that ecerynow and then. Ive seen 40 year old musicians who would have lost their shit in a similar situation. Most western metal bands would be drinking 6 packs of heroin after 15 years of touring with a metal band and these women just get more beautiful everytime I see them.

Deconstructed Christian here. BABYMETAL became my “official” new religion as of August 2023. Didn’t bother with the election this time around. Which I think says something to me about this band. I love it, but I won’t deny, they have some terrifying powers. Please understand, I would consider myself an agnostic theist in my best times, but deep down, I will readily admit I am an existential nihilist. That said, I have little issue appealing to religious language with Babymetal. But I guess I am just at a point where I am not afraid of using that language for myself. It’s all just part of the human experience is it not?
@TheAtheisMexican15 күн бұрын
Regarding using the theistic language, it is something I fall into, as well. I do think it is part of the human experience, which includes trying to figure everything out. That said, I would like to check myself when it comes to thinking of any of the women or the Kami band as somehow supernatural, even if their collective and individual talent leaves my jaw on the ground and my heart bursting every. single. time.
@jaegermeister79814 күн бұрын
@@TheAtheisMexicanI get it, being skeptical. I guess for me, I reach points where I give up on the notion in believing truth is knowable. I just accept that no matter how well my mind can out rationalise itself, I am still just an organism like many others. I will always be a slave to something. That “something” these days is better left off being whatever this unknowable “Fox God” is. Without Babymetal in my life, it’s literally just work, eat, sleep, fuck. With Babymetal, I can still enjoy all that while getting high off of religion. It’s a win-win. Lol. Maybe Babymetal really did tap into something “magical”. Whether that be something deeply psychologically and sociologically profound, or perhaps something more. Either way, the technology of the future will always appear to us as tools of gods. Perhaps BABYMETAL is just a piece of technological entertainment that is decades ahead of its time, and we are just lucky to see it. Or maybe fate is real, and throughout history, Messiahs have always come along to define it, and Suzuka and Koba just so happen to be just that. Messiahs. They play around with the concept in their lore quite a lot. If anything else, it is “gimmick” that works. I don’t know, I don’t pretend to have all the answers or try to all the time. It’s just I find these questions more, healthy, compared to trying to figure out the world around me when maybe people like me, like us, were never meant to completely figure it out. I really wish Genetically Modified Skeptic would look into BABYMETAL. They brought up Ghost before, but this goes much deeper in my opinion.

Thanks for the great video, talking about your journey and how it helps you. Ohh, boy, he really did put Babymetal in the religious segment. :-) But as a metal megazine said: cult-like following. As a Babymetal fan since the start of 2016 and trying to understand Babymetal, well, the phenomenon of Babymetal and it's origin and background. Yes, sub-culture is how we identify ourselves (has to be something in the primitive part of our brains about wanting to belong to a group), identity forming even as you said. I think it starts with the music, uplifting and energetic. And that's also how they perform it live. And that's an understatement, upgrade it to a much higher level even. The way I see it, you have 2 types of music: music which you put on when you are in a certain mood, but Babymetal is the other kind: the music when it's on it changes your mood. The best I can explain it, Suzuka/Su-metal, she is hugely talented in putting her feelings into the music, she seems to go through life mostly by feelings as well. Based on what the Sonisphere festival organizers said: never seen an influx of people at their festival this early in the day. So people were not fans, but Babymetal got enough of their attention that they went, to see what they are really made of and probably a large part were 'disaster tourists' who went to see them fail. Babymetal opens the minds of many, be it us or the people at Sonisphere, they somehow exude professionalism and talent, display of hard work and especially passion at such a young age and I think that's where some of the appreciation started for those haters or disbelievers (ha ! almost made it seem religious 🙂). When we are talking about pre-fab, I think this passion, etc. as mentioned is why it's authentic and not just pre-fab at all.

Really interesting, thanks. Well, I feel you about the election... and I'm not even American. You are right, BABYMETAL generates its own sub-culture, a "cult-like" fandom as I usually say. I've had the opportunity to talk about this topic with several fans from all over the world and it's crazy how our stories, even coming from very different backgrounds, merge around BABYMETAL. I believe wanting to fit in something bigger than you is totally human. Some find that place in religion and it's okay, I guess... Not my case, of course! Personally, I discovered them in late 2019 (yes, too late, I know) and it was instant love from my very first song ("Catch me if you can" from Budokan 2014). And I never went back. My background consists of being a lifelong metalhead, raised in the 80's (we are around the same age). I always loved music (mainly metal: heavy, thrash, death, power, symphonic... and also hardcore punk and even classical music). But I admit I ended up being a metal elitist and that led me to listen to the same music over and over again. To the point I got tired of everything and almost stopped listening to any music. BABYMETAL somehow opened my eyes and showed me a new world. They helped me to keep my mind clear during the toughest part of the lockdowns in 2020. Now, I can do things I never thought I could do. Like traveling around the world and meeting some amazing like-minded people. And I don't feel like "that weird metalhead" anymore. Yes, people around me still find metal (and BABYMETAL too, I guess) weird... and I don't care at all. 😁 🤘🦊

Very interesting content, and good on you for sharing your feelings in a public platform...not everyone can do so. While I have not had the hurdles placed in front of me that you, and many others, may face...I can appreciate the positive effect that Babymetal can have on an individual. For me, when I "discovered" them in 2017, I was totally open mouthed and unable to speak, this was due to watching "Gimme Chocolate" video (as many others had as an introduction). It took three watches before I could call my wife to witness what I had just seen...been hooked ever since. I am now almost 62, and a lifelong Metalhead...the whole Babymetal experience turned my music expectations on it's head, and I am fine with that. As to the age of the girls, for me it did not take long to start feeling like a proud parent (or Grandparent, lol) watching "my kids" grow and thrive...it still feels that way for me. I got to see them live for the first time in September of 2023 in Boston...drove 5 hours to get there, then learned to navigate the "Green Line"...made it in and out in one piece, lol! It was almost surreal to actually see, in person, these entertainers that had been dominating my musical life since 2017. I have seen MANY concerts in my day, and always had a great time but that Babymetal show was on a different level, mainly an emotional level for me. Also noteworthy was the wide age ranges present, I went by myself and sat near all young ladies in their teens, and had a 70 year old couple in front of me. Everyone had a grand time! Anyways, thanks again for the thoughtful post and I hope you are able to continue your elevation from darkness.
