the bending of the fibers next to the splice-protectors is obviously too narrow. it will cause attenuation (macro bending). there is no space enough.

I dont think ive ever done a fusion splice at a terminaton point.. because you can always terminate on a panel and use a patch cable.. factory made patch cables are decent in their losses.. only time i fusion splice is when a cable has been cut midway through a run.. some contractor once cut through one of espn’s 300 strands and i ended up spending a week in a damn closet splicing to get the sec network and espn back up before the next home game.. paid quite a bit..
