It's probably hit the market at the wrong time when many believe they can't afford them with interest rates, the recent decline in EV sales with people believe ICE won't be binned and the marketing hasn't been the best. Too much is made of the Lotus / Colin Chapman link, you don't see MG getting as much stick. But the reality is, with current deals on Eletre, they are half the price to lease than either the new Macan or Taycan. And being honest at this price point most lease rather than buy. Geely are in this for the long term, it will be interesting to see how people think about EV's going forward now that in the UK at least, Labour is back to banning new ICE sales by 2030. As a value proposition vs. the 2025 Taycan / RS Etron GT it is far better value even if dynamically not as good. RE Efficiency, most company car owners won't care because when not charging at home, their company pays for their public charging and there's no TBIK.

We know in order to survive, you have to circum to the public. If this allows them to make more “genuine “ Lotus’s, then so be it. 2 things I take away from this. 1. Is that actual factory window privacy tint for the rear windows? Or is it just film? If it is actual privacy glass, kudos to Lotus because I have yet to see any other manufacturer do this for a sedan. 👏🏻👍🏻 2. Really admire the driver. 😉😎
@DiscoverEV3 күн бұрын
Thanks for your support and feedback. It’s equipped with rear privacy glass as standard and you can also spec the advanced intelligent panoramic glass roof, which you can switch between opaque and clear, but also turn individual sections off to block out direct sunlight while keeping the rest of the roof transparent. Pretty cool huh!?
@neoanderson73 күн бұрын
@@DiscoverEV Yeah, I saw that.. cool trick. The rear privacy glass though, that's a unique feature other manufactuers should adapt. Especially in this class of vehicle.

How WIDE is that thing? For everyday use, you have to be able to park the car in supermarket & multi storey car parks. The ultimate 4 door car would allow you to do that. This thing is needlessly wide. History will judge Lotus's new EV releases harshly, very harshly. They don't know what they're about anymore.

@dodgywheelsandropeywiring56976 күн бұрын
Add lightness has vanished, it's not a Lotus in my eye's but worse still, it's an SUV (stupid ugly van) and that is the biggest sin of all. Once you make an SUV you're not a sports car company anymore, you lose all your historic credibility and become just another corporate box maker. Lotus did great with their recent sports cars but this has finished Lotus for me, they've lost all credibility as has Porsche, Ferrari, Aston Martin etc are finished from the sports car perspective no matter how good a car they make in the future. Harsh, yes but that's my opinion.
@boNOOBod6 күн бұрын
Nobody wants this. Colin Chapman would be turning in his grave if he knew what had become of Lotus. Lotus were all about being lightweight and now just another pudgy overwieght SUV. Boring.
@backgammonbacon6 күн бұрын
Porsche SUV sales beg to differ, people do want this and buy it in serious amounts over these companies traditional cars. The light weight sportscar died years ago and no amount of crying about it on youtube will bring them back. Lol not like you would ever have bought one anyway.

@robertely6865 күн бұрын
@backgammonbacon people also want to buy incontinence pants and heroin - that doesn't mean Lotus should trade in their name and standards to make a quick buck in a different market. If it was down to your backwards form of thinking there would never be an SUV because every manufacturer would be building the saloon cars that 'everyone wants'. Lotus has a history of great innovation and lightweight cars, not jumping on the bandwagon of the latest craze for creating status symbols for materialistic folk that are more interested in showing off how much they earn than any form of driving pleasure.

@DiscoverEV As an enthusiast I have had to patch together The Electric Viking, EVM and Definitely not a Guru. Just to understand EV battery life, the cost of running an EV and where to find an EV that is truly affordable. No one channel has all the real information. Especially, no UK channel that focuses on UK issues. Whilst you can't make a living out of just bringing the facts and I understand a bit of bling is good. I do think that there is room for a channel with the right name, to help people in the UK discover the affordable truth. As channels like The MacMaster are able to fund themselves just by spreading nonsense and rumours.

Sorry but STARTING an EV at £32,000 and saying "for that money you can't go wrong!" is utter nonsense... That is not AFFORDABLE as a starting price. The Dacia Spring at £14,995 is the real starting price and more manufacturers need to get a model down to that price as a starter.
