Hi, I enjoyed the video a lot, especially the "quick and dirty" way ts stiffening. I would have turn to either starching or perhaps using PVA glue. I was really here for the abaca, long story and boring at that. Mostly I thought you could use another comment to feed the Mighty Algorithm. Yours, Ann

Phygian caps (the Greek hats) are pronounced "FRIDGE-ee-in" (or "FRIJ-ee-in") with a "j" sound. Great presentation!

The military hats were not ceremonial :) it goes very much in line with how war and the view of battles before the 20ths century. Battles were a show off, you didn't have camo, to hide from your enemy was seen as a sign on cowardness, that is why bigger and balder is to be favoured.

Good morning, Please I have a question It's quite different 😔 I am supposed to make a very wide brim hat that I have to cover with a fabric I used two layers of sinamay and stiffened it The brim wasn't strong after adding the fabric even when I wired it My question is what did I do wrong?? Is there any other alternative to sinamey?? Will be glad to hear from you
@Jwhmillinery
@Jwhmillinery 2 жыл бұрын
You might need to support the brim from the head for to the edge of the brim. Once it gets to a certain size, it needs additional support. I would possibly think about making a wire brim and covering with fabric if possible.
