Any advice or suggestions for running this in a quality inflatable kayak? Mid August run, probably similar water flows...

It should be very similar due to dam release. No real advice or suggestions. It is a pretty chill float with an IK, enjoy.

Great video and fabulous pictures of Wyntoon. Maybe a dumb question, but how long does it take to get this good at kayaking, if you are a beginner? And what "class" is this considered? THANK YOU!

Thank you. It is a wonderful place. Time is hard to gauge for development, but myself it was about the 3rd year. But this is a lot of skills needed to kayak other than boat stuff also such as route finding/navigstion and classroom based hydrology that is essential. I took a course with the American Canoe Association to learn proper form and technique from hands on instructors and became a level 2 instructor myself. I took swiftwater rescue courses from the college and local training agencies also. The skills learned and networking helps with everything later in your pursuits. This run required good boat control and balance as it is shallow and rolling upright in fast shallow water is near impossible. Also the water is lethal level of cold. It was 103°F and a swim would have been dangerous due to the cold water temps (Its snowmelt like a few miles from the Mt.) With a good group of friends who are focused on growing skills and river hours you can get very good in a reasonably short time. I had to find a friend to drag along, and find the rivers, and beg my friends for shuttles all because its a interesting community of river folks around here. Ego and opinions run high. Many friends have left the sport for softer edged communities.

Help me out Bouldering Badger. 🦡 What is the name of the town/area for the takeout? Google and Apple Maps show it as Gottsville, but American Whitewater and others say Gottville (without an “s”). Then I noticed your videos say it different too. In fact, two of them, this video included, have both in same video! (One way in the video title, and the other in the text on screen during intro.) 🤔🤯 Whats the truth?!
@boulderingbadger6179
@boulderingbadger6179 11 ай бұрын
Im gonna have to say I am not sure. I usually try to be careful with the spelling due to the goal of mine to get people to areas to boat, but I must rely on memory and that is where I probably spell it wrong. I think its Gottville like the river take out and access area is named on google maps. Ive no idea about local history or name etymology.
