How did you decide what size to cut?
@Needleandfur
@Needleandfur 4 ай бұрын
@@naseemhussain5761 you need to measure your basic points - bust, waist, and hips and compare those numbers to the size on the guide provided. This is quite a loose garment you might want to cut a size down. But that's why you should make a mock up. You should only need to make it down to your hips to save in mock up fabric. Hope that helps

gosh you did well!! I can imagine your frustration about the unpicking and the scaring as you clearly love a clean finish as much as I do!! IAfter watching the tricky tight hand sewing with this method of construction I thought I would give the other speculative construction method by Eleanor Houghton a go - kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4rEnJyImqdrmaM

Having trouble matching up the bust darts do you match the side cut out tabs?
@Needleandfur
@Needleandfur Жыл бұрын
If I understand the question correctly you should match up what looks the most obvious to someone looking at you. Although I'd try to unpick and reline up the one of the darts first. But if your fabric is too delicate to handle that, then match up the tabs instead. And if anyone notices the darts don't match up .. why are they looking in the first place 🤣

Great series. It’s amazing how the colors blend and sometimes don’t. Too bad they fade the more you wash them if there was a saturation you really enjoyed. Have you thought about fruit/veggie dyeing with the tea? I don’t know if it’s a thing but I thought about how blueberries, blackberries and carrots will stain your fingers when juicing so maybe they would aid in tea dyeing. Worst case you would have some good juice blends to drink with the leftovers you didn’t use 😊
@Needleandfur

Well I do have some avocado skins that are good to dye with. They give a pink hue so they could create some interesting colours. Thanks for the suggestion!! X

Oh darn it’s unfortunate that this book wasn’t a 5-star. That reminds me of another book different industry that was for beginners. I was like “ain’t no way!” Too many gaps or assumptions of knowledge thanks for reviewing and giving an honest opinion. I wonder if the author is able to put out a new edition to address some of your or others concerns.
@Needleandfur
@Needleandfur Жыл бұрын
Yeah it's hard when you have a book like that, I have others that don't have much information but just looking at them they are clearly for those with more advanced skills. I think it's been in print for a while so I would have thought a second edition would have happened by now. It's not a bad book, and it's one of only a few dedicated to that time period, but I couldn't let people go out and buy it when I knew there were some issues that needed addressing. I'm not going to claim I can do something better when it comes to writing pattern books. But the publisher should have also known better and challenged more on the lack of detail. I guess that issue might be more wide spread than just the historical sewing aspect.

@AkiTennen
@AkiTennen Жыл бұрын
Thank you sooo much for giving some numbers. Sure one project will be more costly than another and it always depends on where you can source your materials. But that's what I'm missing a bit on costube in general: how much was it? All these very creative , lovely and awesome people doing one bog thing after the other... I wish it could be a bit more realistic with the numbers. not only cost but also time. so thank you very much for that info!
@Needleandfur

Thank you for your kind words, I talk about some of the other costings on my fabric haul and trip up to London video. It can be hard to keep track of these individual prices and different shops will price things differently. I can put a full break down on my community page (sorry I'm not sure if you have subscribed already or not) but you will see each item I bought and how much it was, and where I could broke it down to price per metre - if that would help :)
