I found you through the TN Nursery video of you planting the moss - do you have another video of how it is looking now? I just ordered 3 types of moss to plant in a new area in my garden I am doing over in Massachusetts. Hopefully it takes before winter!

This summer has been pretty challenging heat wise but it’s been the quiet part if the season and soon it will be the beautiful autumn season and I sure love seeing the kale and Dichondra with Heliotrope!

You are such an excellent gardener! Wow, I can’t believe how beautiful that standard is going to be! Wow!so the standard isn’t going to get as big as a usual Hydrangea tree? The PeeGee I guess is the name. They grow sort of huge here in southeastern PA so I was a little concerned. But that size looks perfect. You can even trim the branch tops from the deck !

So pretty to look at from the inside too! Do you treat all hydrangeas with copper? I just planted a Popstar hydrangea. ☔️🦋

I notice that your side garden seem to be about four or five feet deep from the side of your house. Are your Hydrangeas too close to the house?
@TheGardenMouse2 күн бұрын
Hi! I suppose it depends on the type of hydrangea you are planting. All of these are dwarf varieties that don't get more than 3-4 feet wide. The root system of the hydrangea is very shallow (about a foot) and will go out as wide as the branches on top, so this is planty of space for them.

I’m excited for you! I have 2 as shrubs and the panicles are humongous, Despite them being so big they never flop! This is my first time seeing a standard form, I can’t wait to see how it performs in ground for its first year.

Will I effect the tuber growth if i don't prune sweet potato? I'm really just growing for the tubers/nutrients so it doesn't have to be pretty lol. It's my first year so I'm still learning the basics. I had to trim my cantaloupe due to PM and wow! The fruit have really started to take off since. My follow up question is, how do I know when I've cut enough back vs too much pruning? I don't want to slow growth, I want to promote!

Those trees are so cute and your plans for them are thinking outside the box! The taller maple is going to be so pretty wherever you place it. Dogwood branches that are really red instead of painted branches like I have seen in stores . I really love that little tree! I have 3 Japanese maples and have no idea what they are named so that is really interesting! Of course your kitties are adorable! Thanks for sharing.

I remember when you potted that Hydrangea and company up! It will be nice when you have this one back in garden again and you could plant near the mama asymmetrically! I think I’m going to try HD for some Lime Coral Sedum. I can’t believe I missed that last time in the garden center. I’m just focusing on my few Hydrangeas in back yard, adding compost underneath and top dressing. They’re such easy plants I hardly thought about the soil much. Now I want to do the best while I can for them before winter. All your plants behind you looked so nice too. Those fuschia flowers with creeping jenny really nice and bright. What was that? Have a great day.

I had the same problem but sunpatiens were just as bad in late afternoon sun. For tricky spots, nothing works as well as Proven Winners coleus and begonias. They can tolerate both sun and shade without any issues.

Thanks for sharing your lovely Hydrangeas, gardens and planters. It is inspiring. I am definitely Hydrangea and daylily centric. I’m busy “taking care of young Hydrangeas which will be large but are still young” phase. Think I will look for a Vanilla Strawberry Hydrangea before it’s too late for the season.

Same thing happened to me recently. I have 4 other ones and treated them all the same but one died. It did die like yours and started from the bottom till it all turned brown. I’m so blessed that I also don’t need to replace mine every year.

Great addition. Those Coleous look so great! Are you to try and take cuttings in fall to overwinter for next year or just grow from seed again? I’m thinking about trying a few cuttings of my Coleous which did well in the Florida heat in Pensacola. By the way the sedum is great too love the way it took off and grown into such large mounds. Think it will survive winter there and come back?
