Eloquently put. I do quite a bit of tresspasssing (and always leaving a positive trace by removing other people's litter) as I am incensed by our archaic and discriminatory access laws. Compared with Scotland, Europe, Scandinavia, and most of the world, England is stuck in a time warp of unjust, inequitable land appropriation that began one thousand years ago. It beggars belief that it has taken so long for the wool to be pulled from the publics' eyes.

The natural parts of our once beautiful country are being built on with huge housing estates at an eye watering rate fed by unnecessary immigration. So places like the moors are so important for people that recognise in their dna that they need to be ‘in’ the land, even if only for a night or two here and there.
@al_humphreys5 күн бұрын
It often feels that we are disappearing under concrete. But actually that's not the case. We are mostly disappearing under agricultural land being used unbelievably inefficiently: growing crops to feed cows to feed us. See here for reassurance that we're not disappearing under concrete: ourworldindata.org/grapher/land-use-over-the-long-term?stackMode=relative&time=2023&country=~GBR
@spencerdodds22075 күн бұрын
@@al_humphreys that as well. But the amount of housing development in such a short time just in my area in the south east is unbearable. Many place I used to go not so long ago have now gone to housing. Yes agricultural practices are a problem and I tip my hat to you for your concern but agriculture too is affected by unnecessary mass immigration. By the way the idea that all grazing land is fit for arable farming is absurd.
@al_humphreys5 күн бұрын
@@spencerdodds2207 Haha! We're about to venture off onto an argument very different to the wild camping one of the thread. My only quibble with what you say is the word 'unneccesary' - I believe that immigration is vital to the UK economy as it helps fill labor shortages in key sectors like healthcare, construction, and agriculture, boosting productivity and growth. Immigrants also contribute to public services through taxes, supporting the country's welfare system and overall economic stability. But let's agree to agree on the importance and fun of wild camping and wild spaces!
@spencerdodds22075 күн бұрын
@@al_humphreys well I totally disagree with you on mass immigration and that’s coming from someone who’s wife and eldest son are immigrants. I also disagree on your ideas on farming but like you say I agree with you on the matter of wild camping and that’ll do.

The 1% have a master plan and we aren't invited, they have sold everything off in Britain and are now left with them stripping the lead from the roofs to sell the last remnants of GB. I despise them all with my whole being. ( wow I managed that without any swear words, bugger)

Most people don’t get to see nature because they’re banned from the vast majority of the countryside. This should be a fundamental freedom for everyone. No one can ‘own’ nature! Yet this pathetic couple have sought to ban this basic human right on Dartmoor just because ‘they don’t like it’ with no thought for the thousands of people who it serves; the freedom to camp under the stars. The irony is I bet that they rarely ever even see most of the land they own or appreciate it in the same way many other people do. I pity them.

It's not important one way or the other, once their new "Ecocide" bill is enacted no one can visit the countryside without a permit. Baroness Boycott introduced her bill as a "private members' bill on 30 November 2023, (it's known as HL Bill 21). Also, their '15-minute cities' are marked out nationwide now which means we'll not be allowed to leave our designated areas without permission either. The over-all agenda is known as "United Nations - Agenda 21", this part we're living through now is what they call their "Great Reset".

@@al_humphreys on my way back from a wild camp last night, i was speaking to a contractor working for Dartmoor and he said his wife worked in the admin for the park, and said it would be 2 weeks for a decision, but quite honestly dont care how long it takes as long as we get the right decision. i have just been watching the 1st 45mins of the court case and I get the impression that the judges were not too impressed with Darwals convoluted assement of the act.
